But hey, our own Police Chief is making unsubstantiated claims that their “calls for service in the area they can’t get to have tripled since Monday”, with reports of rape and violence in the zone. Some people looked into it and there were 4 on the police record, the worst of which was an assault… that occured on 6/3 but wasn’t reported until 6/10. So Fox has an easy job of it.

Sigh, personally I understand what they mean when the say "Don’t be a fuckin’ dick"and I can support it. I do worry how people on the Right might attack or misrepresent it. It’s like… are the people saying that meaning that only men are assholes? Isn’t that sort of bigotry that they’re fighting against? This is going to turn men away that would otherwise support them.
Shouldn’t the slogan be “Don’t be a gender-neutral jerk”? If these Fuck Blacks signs persist in this neighborhood it’s likely because these guys, while well meaning, just didn’t get their messaging right.
My workplace shut down Wednesday for a day of learning and discussion about BLM. A few of those books were on the suggested reading list. I read “So you want to talk about race.” I’ve since harbored fantasies of trying to unpack parts of it on QT3, but in another thread - it gave me an incredible amount to think over. I’m eager to learn more and work out the ideas in conversation, but it is hard to imagine one where I’m not consistently failing.
If you haven’t read it and can devote a day to it, it’s time we’ll spent.

What was that recent term for politics junkies who treat it like sports? And a lot of us realized we’re exactly that? Reading all the posts expressing criticism and concern about the Defund protest slogan and the movement branding reminded me of that issue.
In other news, I’m looking forward to finally getting out to a protest in my town this afternoon.

Yeah this specific issue has a lot of names and characters. There’s always some eager kid to scream what you can’t be too.

More unintentional progress.
It has been nice of officers like this to keep showing the world what tone deaf fragile snowflakes they are. Perhaps in the wake of this hiring practices can be adjusted to avoid these personality types and instead hire people capable of empathy.

I attended a BLM neighborhood protest today. There were about 100 of us and we marched and chanted through our mostly white suburban Georgia subdivision. All of us were masked. Felt great.
