Shit. At least it wasn’t the police this time.

Van “Today is the day Trump became President” Jones, everybody:

Van Jones really is super weak

In fairness, the cops aren’t really able to show up in there.

Who were the people that got killed though?

Depends who you ask. Some people say Proud Boys/alt-right. Some people say cops.
Odds are probably on the alt-right angle. Lot of them reported around town looking to cause trouble.
Hell, some of them have already caused trouble on smaller scales.

Some of those that work forces…

Glad no one at the CHOP was hurt or killed.

That is bullshit. They can go in. The first shooting that was there (a week and a half ago) the cops’ own body cam footage shows they were allowed in, but the protestors wanted them to leave their weapons- the cops didn’t show up for 20 minutes or so because they had to go get all military-stye.

No one noticed because no one knows anyone who still watches The Simpsons, yet it’s still on the air.

I’d be cool with that.

Last I saw in Seattle, they had erected concrete barricades. Seattle was going to remove them Sunday, but the CHOP folks had cut the rings off the sides, so moving them became more of an ordeal.

Eh, it would be totally insane for the cops to enter the CHOP unarmed at this point.

No. That’s their bullshit fear-soaked attitude. All of the violence from that protest has been instigated by the cops. They have a real hard-on for protests that happen downtown or Capitol Hill- any sign, they immediately break out the riot gear. Frankly, the protestors would be stupid to allow police with weapons in willy-nilly, given past experience. The cops have earned that scepticism.

They’ve done it before when they went to get shit out of the old cop shop.

Well, not unarmed, they had side arms. No riot gear or anything else.
And then they fucking maced a bunch of people anyway.

So honestly, asking cops to leave their weapons behind makes sense to me at this point.
They literally can’t help themselves. Which is the whole reason the CHOP exists in the first place.

The CHOP was the police responding to people calling out their violence against peaceful protesters by taking their ball and going home. Then… it was pretty peaceful. The second they let cops in for like 10 minutes., they fucking pepper-sprayed everything that moved.

Violence at the CHOP only really picked up when Fox News started their warlord narrative, which is how two sad sacks got their ass lit up by trying to start something I’m betting.

Sorry dude, while being skeptical of cops is totally warranted, it would be totally insane for them to go into the CHOP unarmed, in a situation where you KNOW there are armed people who hate cops.

You can hate cops all you want, that’s fine, but the idea that they should go unarmed into the CHOP is kind of nuts.

I mean, what would even be the point of the cops going in there then? What are they gonna do?

See, that’s more reasonable. I can see them only taking side arms. But completely unarmed? That would be insane.

Haul people off to a jail.

Honestly, beyond that, the CHOP doesn’t really need them.

Without weapons? Who’s gonna listen to them?

And in the case we’re talking here, it sounds like folks were dealing with injured folks who needed paramedics… not cops.

In that situation, it seems like the only reason you’d send cops, is because the paramedics wouldn’t feel safe going into the CHOP. Which seems like what most reasonable people would feel.

The whole CHOP thing feels like cosplay taken into real life, tbh. Anarchist communes aren’t self sufficient and don’t have long lifespans.

I listen to people without weapons all the time. Hell, I’m usually the armed one, though they don’t know it.

Eh… these are also armed criminals. Disarmed now, and shot and injured, but still criminals who likely have multiple cases of attempted murder on their heads. Paramedics can probably handle them, but dangerous criminals is one of the few things most people agree we probably want some cops around to deal with. Someone has to watch them at the hospital so they don’t just wander off if nothing else.

By every account paramedics are fine with it that I’ve seen. Then again paramedics will often walk into a hail of gunfire to help someone, but the fire department also has been mostly fine with everything.

The thing is, cops don’t make any situation safer really.

Edit: Well other than maybe an active shooter scenario, which this was and they handled without cops. They just need someone to haul off what’s left of them and keep them someplace for trial. If you replaced the SPD with a single sheriff who had a jail, the CHOP would be mostly fine I suspect.

I believe there is video of the paramedics refusing to go into CHOP without the police. When we have a shooting situation it makes sense they’d want an escort.
