Oh it’s easy enough. They refused a direct public safety instruction, they were deliberately instigating rioters, they were smoking cannabis in the street, they took a swing at an officer, it doesn’t matter how false it may be. All it requires is an officer’s lie that the reporter was committing a crime, which will naturally be backed up by every other policeman on the force who can plausibly claim to have been in the vicinity. It would require an unbiased legal system with a prosecution that isn’t in bed with the police for this kind of behavior to be stopped in court, but really it requires a police force composed of non-bastards.
That can still be problematic. It has been with Florida State at times.

I think most of the time it’s not even about getting into court. The cops just want to exert their dominance and get press out of there for a while. They know that it’s unlikely a DA will actually press charges.
Yes. With rare exceptions, a prosecutor will only press charges against an officer if required by politics to do so or if the union disavows the officer, which last practically never happens.

Though honestly, you can get most of the way there just by keeping a few rules of thumb in mind: 1) stick to B&W unless the color is particularly striking 2) try to divide the frame into thirds 3) if there are diagonal lines, aim them at the corners, 4) make sure your vertical and horizontal lines remain vertical and horizontal, respectively.
Won’t guarantee a great shot, but that’ll certainly help.
I took an introductory photography course after I bought my first DSLR. Points 2 and 4 makes a huge difference in how a shot looks. In retrospect, I guess I really didn’t need to take a course to learn that but it was a fun way to spend a few evenings.

Well, really, it rarely gets to court. The police arrest journalists for nothing, then later let them go without charges, and occasionally apologize if there is a big enough stink about it. In practice, the police accomplish what they want — to get the journalists away from what the police are doing — and the courts are not a factor.

They exist. Usually they call them protester or say they were causing a disturbance. And then release them the next morning after dropping the charges.
Only if you sue them for it. But Qualified Immunity makes that hard. As do covered badges and the like.

Near as I can tell Boogalos are about as organized as Antifa. Random groups have completely different ideologies. Some are out there hunting cops, others are marching with BLM. It’s just confusing to the point that the term is nearly irrelevant. Are they 3%er Boogalos? BLM supporting? Just randos? They all identify the same.
