Hillsborough is pretty Republican. It’s all those ridiculously expensive mansions. My aunt used to live there, and my parents despair she’s turned into a MAGA follower. She came to this country as an immigrant and can’t see her own hypocracy.
Other countries have much clearer class lines. The US hides them and pretends they don’t exist. When an immigrant rails against other immigrants, they are NOT railing against themselves. They are railing against poor immigrants.
I wouldn’t doubt it, though Hillsborough at least has an excuse…those folks are certainly going to pay more taxes under a Democrat. It’s an idiotic and short-sighted excuse, but it’s something.
In Martinez, it’s “i just scraped into the middle-class by dint of my own hard work while those lazy n-words are eating T-bone steaks and soaking in government jacuzzis on my dime” white resentment all the way down.
I’m not sure which is worse, tbh.
Norman, Oklahoma - Police doxx councilwoman cutting budget, neighbor (in duplex) gets raped (allegedly).
Her rapist dug his elbow into her neck, pushed her into the wall, and told her “Maybe next time you’ll learn your lesson.” He threw her on the ground and raped her.
Attempted murderer and dog abuser to face charges.

Canadians are known for politeness and their love of hockey. Though not all share both traits.

I feel like if that were in the US it probably would have involved mortar rounds.

And the couple who painted over the BLM mural on the street? Charges brought up for them.
Republicans have turned negative while non-Republicans have held firm in their support of the movement sparked by the death of George Floyd and other incidents involving racial justice. The Monmouth University Poll finds that most Americans are hopeful about the future of race relations even though most say President Donald Trump has made the current situation worse. The public is divided about the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement but opinion is more positive than it was four years ago. The poll also finds that most people view “Defund the Police” more as a call to action than a literal policy position.
But sadly, Foxbrain at work:
Isn’t that already illegal?

I was literally just pasting that link in.
To highlight again one bit:
Recent protests have also involved calls to “Defund the Police.” Most Americans (77%) believe those who use that phrase really just want to change the way police departments operate. Only 18% believe that people who use this phrase actually want to get rid of police departments.
It does appear the worry about the slogan was thankfully wasted. 18% is way lower than I would have assumed. I figured that would be in the 30s similar to Trump approval.
