If they don’t identify themselves as police? Yeah, in some states.
Virgina State Police claims there was an investigation of the stop when it happened April of last year, but now that the video has been released and a lawyer is involved the officer has been placed on administrative leave. Which… well, to say it puts their internal investigative process in question is putting it nicely.
Attorney’s letter also has some choice footnotes.

Okay I’ll admit, when I saw the video I took it with a grain of salt. Social media, no context, ect. But now that the governor is speaking out and this appears to actually be a thing? WTF is this police state shit?
I seriously don’t understand the thinking here even from the Federal Fascists. Suppose one of these guys with no badge, doesn’t ID himself, and grabs someone on the street… and then it gets violent. Someone shoots the Fed, or attacks… there’s a fight?
How on earth does the victim/protestor not have a major winning lawsuit? Last time I checked, fed or state or local, law enforcement has to ID itself to make an arrest. Insanity.

It is insanity. That video was something straight out of Russia. It looked like state kidnapping. No identification, no reading of rights, just masked unnamed people grabbing a kid and hauling him away.
If that were my friend or family, how would I even know to follow up? Who detained him? Where is he? For how long? How do I get a lawyer over there?
It wouldn’t suprise me if they take these people to an interrogation chamber and force a false confession out of them about planned terrorist attacks.
