Well hey, if they are 100% responsible, then i guess we’ll see all the problems with the SPD to go away now!

I look forward to witnessing that!

I think @LMN8R means that these folks are 100% implicated, not that they are the sole source of the problem. I have no doubt that the rot runs deep, as it must in these cases.

Well the cool thing is that we’ll get to see the actual impact of these changes, so we won’t need to hypothesize about what their effects will be.

We’ll just get to watch and see if they were good changes.

Some cops were handling a break-in where I’m at. I could overhear enough of what they were saying to know the black men inside weren’t going to get a fair shake.

So I’ve seen Christians on social media rail against BLM saying the organization is run by bible-burning Marxist atheists or something…

Pretty sure the BLM movement is decentralized but I admit I’m not aware of where they are getting this information. Although even if there are some bad actors, I would think Jesus would still support black people suffering from police brutality and racial terror.

If you mean why they think BLM are Bible burning atheists then probably this:

Your mouth is a device, is what I fully expect them to decide.

The neighnoring county to Alamance- the Greensboro police department just fired a cop for this

Cop got fired for doing the right thing , so he was probably one of the good ones. Meanwhile last Sunday I saw three cops in the same town act casually racist while arresting someone. (TBH I suspect there was legit cause from what I saw of the inside of the house)

Legit cause for the arrest, not the racism, I presume?

And yet…

Wrong house raids have been an issue for as long as I can remember. No matter the technology level, they happen. Which makes me think the cause is more than just incompetence and mix ups. Especially as they always seem to affect populations that routinely get the short end of the stick. A part of it is, in my mind, no doubt linked to the assumptions by law enforcement that “these people,” which ever group they are disparagingly discussing, are probably all criminals anyhow, in some way, so, eh, who cares?

The question is, why raids in the first place? Knock on the fucking door and wait for the occupant to answer it.

What, you want cops everywhere to go flaccid?

Next you’re going to tell me that they don’t need APCs and rocket launchers.

Yeah, it was a drug bust.

Heh, well, given the history of drug law in this country, the legitimacy of such arrests on a macro scale is questionable, but that indeed is outside the scope of this event.

I do wish some elements of the protesters here in Portland would stop setting small fires in public buildings (the offices of Multnomah County were last night’s target). What possible purpose does that serve? Protest away, but don’t commit arson ffs (I know it’s very few people).

Yeah, it’s never a clean and clear situation in these cases. I mean, I tend to feel the same way, but then, I also realize that my respect for property is itself a part of my cultural programming, and while in general I do think that especially public property deserves respect, I am fully aware that a lot of the anger against property destruction is another facet of the whole worship of private property religion that is at the center of exploitative, racist capitalism. Cities destroy poor people’s property all the time, directly or indirectly, but it’s only when the right type of property gets threatened that people go ape shit.

Again, not disagreeing with you, really, as I too do not see the benefit in these sorts of destructive acts. But then, I’m not in the demographic most affected by the abuses of power of the system, either.

Yeah, a few idiots do something and it tarnishes the whole protest.

So the evil union is going to get hims his job back right? right? RIGHT?!
