Several prestigious private leagues from the distant, mythical era wreathed in the fog of WAAAAAGH!—before Open Leagues. Read more here.

So if I have 2 results, one is ‘Def Down’ other is ‘Both Down’, chances are I’d rather pick ‘def down’ and have the opposing player thrown back. However, I just finished a game where choosing ‘Def down’ got my player knocked down. Reading Jarmo’s reply, possibly I was the defender?

Was it your turn or the opponents turn?

The defender and attacker change depending on whose turn it is. You have to be careful about that. You can’t just always pick “defender down”. If you’re defending, YOU go down. Sorry I didn’t mention that earlier.

Not sure :(
I’ll take more notice next game.

Whoever’s turn it is is the attacker in blocking situations.

So wait a sec here. On Turn 7, the orc ball carrier uses Blitz on an opposing player standing right next to him. How did he force a Blitz?

I feel like my Ghouls are as fragile as Gutter Runners, because they can’t be healed by my Necromancer (or the Igor even when I get inducement cash).

Mind you I’ve never played Skaven, so I don’t really know how fragile gutter runners are…

Tony

You click the lightning bolt on the right side of the screen to start a move/action sequence with a blitz. It’s very useful for getting a ball carrier out of a tricky situation.

Thanks; I had no idea that was possible.

Or you can use my technique, which is to block first, then think “dowh! I meant to blitz”. It’s very useful for getting a ball carrier into a tricky situation.

Those tricky situations are great learning opportunities and they enforce and reinforce the player’s fervent devotion to Nuffle, though. They are one of the ways the game plays you and checks you’re paying proper attention. Blood Bowl is a fickle and demanding mistress. Dominatrix, really.

You say “great learning opportunity”, I say “watch my favorite ghoul have his head ripped off by an Saurus”. Pot-a-to, Pot-ah-to.

Dammit, seeing all these BB threads on the front page today reminded me of how much I loved it, even though it was full of bugs and bad UI. Then I read that the LE is way better and even has open leagues, but all the sales are over now. Damn my luck! It’s like watching Kalle’s saurus intercept every pass I make all over again!

Thehut.com has Blood Bowl Legendary Edition for 21.43 eur plus postage (“There is a charge of £2.35 per item on deliveries to any countries outside of the EU.”) = $32.74 with p&p at the current exchange rate. Surely the game is worth much much more than that to an aficionado. You can probably still find even better deals. And if it’s $20 in two months somewhere, a sawbuck considered as rent for the interval is nothing compared to the many hours of pleasure (and pain :-) it would bring.

The Qt3 Blood Bowl community has never been as active, now is the best possible time to jump (back) in.

Ha, thanks for the offer, but with postage that would wind up costing about the same as just buying it at full price here.

If $30 is the full price, I sure would have no need of a sale to buy it. The game has already provided me with hundreds of hours of entertainment (and teeth-gnashing).

I get wanting the best bang for one’s buck in the current climate of oft-repeated bargains eroding the price image of all electronic entertainment but buying a copy of Blood Bowl is really a modest entrance fee to a potentially long-lasting hobby, not a single game purchase. It’s ridiculously cheap at the price for the value provided.

Of course, not everyone is as thoroughly inculcated and indoctrinated in the Church of the Holy Nuffle, the bringer of all that is cube-shaped and roundly spotted. The proselytising continues until the ranks of the anointed are filled to bursting.

Well hooray! I finally remembered I had some store credit on Impulse left over from when I still had TotalGaming tokens. I was saving them originally for Elemental, but they didn’t allow you to use it on preorders and we all know how that turned out. So I got on my Stardock account for the first time in over a year and found out I had $49 of credit, it’s like I went in a closet and found a “free” game I’d forgotten about!

Now to get used to the new edition and sign up for the Qt3 open league!

Yay! Sign up for season 2 of Quarter to Three Dice Block!

Where do we sign up for what now? The threads I see are too big to fathom!
