Lol. Good point, I edited out both of the things I think are potential spoilers. Along with the returning character in Awakening, you also mentioned Shale’s gender, which is considered spoilerish as well.

I’m not particularly annoyed and think being “spoiler free” this long after a game is released is unrealistic, but other people have thrown fits over such things so I just wanted to point that out.

So, is the August DLC any good? I’m looking forward to Witch Hunt, but suppose I could go for an appetizer if it didn’t suck.

Oh well, so much for waiting on the Ultimate bundle collection. I see that Impulse had a 50% off deal on the Origins/Awakening bundle, and since that’s the same price as Awakening alone, I decided to pick it up (first purchase on Impulse, too, although I have GalCiv2 from retail). Unlike the Steam version, I can actually use the Impulse version with my retail DA:O without reinstalling (or so goes the theory). We’ll see.

I’m stuck trying to create Vigilance, the Worked to the Bone quest from Wade. All I need is a regular diamond and while I know I’ve found and sold some before getting this quest and learning that I’ll need it, I can’t find one now. I’ve triple-checked every possible merchant/vendor and there’s none to be bought. I’ve wiped out Blackmarsh and the Wending Wood sections, so unless there’s one in the Last of the Legion section, I think I’m screwed. Unless of course there’s a mod that lets you drop items into your party inventory.

I recently started playing this game, really enjoyable so far… Except for all the random desktop crashes that started yesterday. What can I do to fix this issue? My game is from Steam, so I think I have the latest version.

As far as I can tell, CTDs are the norm in DA:O (and they continued in Awakening, for me, on a new system). They are frequent and random enough, at least, that I figure they can happen at any time and act accordingly (i.e. continue to save often).

I had 2 or 3 in 75 hours of gameplay including Awakening, but even 1 means you’d better save at a regular pace.

It was fine until I got to the mage tower. Really weird.

Possible issues with drivers? In past games for me, I’ve found that shaders can be finicky. FWIW, I haven’t had the CTD errors but most people have run into them every now and then on Dragon Age. And yeah, save often.

I never realized CTDs were an issue with Dragon Age. I’m 60+ hours into my second play-through and I don’t think I’ve had one.

The only time i had CTD issues with DA was when playing awakening and using that huge texture mod.

No CTDs here either over two and a half playthroughs. Dan’s thoughts on drivers sounds about right.

Now that I am out of that particular area of the game, I have not crashed. It’s much more enjoyable!

Ultimate Edition announced.

I have been waiting for this. Now I can buy the game with all DLC and extra bits and pieces in one neat box!

Waiting sure pays off :)

Yes, if I buy DA2, it will be a package like this. I’m really tired of preorder bonus and DLC nonsense.

Smart move. I take the alternate approach and just buy (pre-order) the game and ignore DLC so I can get the free stuff without being annoyed by paying bits constantly in the future. I had been waiting for that Ultimate Edition but gave up when I thought it might be delayed and wanted to get an Awakening run through before Civ5 hit, too (so I picked Awakening up during an Impulse sale).

I’m almost certainly going to pre-order DA2 and continue my refusal to pay for short DLC that gives little rewards but not enough content, especially when I can get full games that give me dozens of hours for the same price (or less) on Steam.

On the other hand, DLC for Civ5…well, might have to break a rule or two there.

So, the Ultimate Edition of this game came out, and since I am not going to be getting a new PC anytime soon (and even when I do, I probably will not play many games on it), I picked this up for PS3. I just got to Lothering or whatever as a mage and I really like it! I upped the difficulty to keep me on my toes and it’s fun.

I realize this was never going to happen and never will happen but I think the Final Fantasy XII combat system would fit this like a glove. It’s already about 3/4th of the way there…

Nah. The Mass Effect combat system would fit it like a glove!

Shame on you, hong ;)

Still waiting for another sale on Impulse for Awakening. They were kind enough to recently run one on the Ultimate pack, but $30 for Awakening is still too damn much. C’mon, guys - throw me a bone, will ya? sigh
