We have never been at war with Eastasia.

And it’s not over now!

So now we need to do something incredibly stupid.

And we’re just the guys to do it!

If ever there was the potential for an incredibly stupid gesture on somebody’s part, well…

I wish Senator Blutarski had run for President…

Because this is a GOP thing:

BTW, he claims this represents his Christian values, by not allowing gays to shop at his store. These fake Christians sure are popping up all over because this is the polar opposite of what Jesus would do. Furthermore it is the opposite of what Christianity is supposed t be about.

To be fair, there is that part in the Bible when some widow was crying and Jesus was all, “Get a load of this whiny loser!” Then he slapped some foreigners and smoked a cigar.

I think they need a new nickname, I’ll nominate S.O.W.'s - Social Oppression Warriors

Rick’s reply:

Joe…Blutarski?

I thought Timex said this wasn’t a problem? It must not be happening. The gays aren’t a protected class, so they don’t deserve to have things sold to them. Or something likewise morally and ethically correct based on someone’s religion.

If you want to make gays a protected class, so be it. That’s not offensive to me at all, although I doubt its effectiveness for the reasons I stated above.

Your idea that everyone should be forced to engage in business with everyone else was just boneheaded though, and totally failed to account for the unintended consequences.

Nobody forces anyone to buy things from anyone else. You get to choose whether to go into the store. But when you want a pack of gum, and someone sells it, you should be able to buy it. Gays apparently can’t buy gum at this guy’s store. That’s not ok in my book. How is it in yours? Protecting the shopkeepers rights to discrminate are more important than the rights of the gay people who want to buy gum?

I know I don’t ask someone if they hold offensive views before I decide whether to treat their medical conditions.

I wonder how Grainger feels about his stand? And I also love how most of the interview is done in front of boxes of ammunition. So Christian!

No. You don’t have that right.

Yes, because if you violate those rights, you’re saying that it’s ok to violate the rights of millions of other people. That’s why your position is bad. You are myopically focused on this one case, without considering the broader impact of your solution.

No, it’s not. Which is why I would never go to that guy’s store. I would tell everyone else I know not to go to his store. I would do everything in my power to damage his business and punish him for his bigotry.

And if you want to make gays a protected class, then that’s fine too. And then narrowly saying that he can’t descriminate against gays for being gay is fine.

But your idea of just stripping every american of the right to refuse service is nonsensical.

Uh.

That’s a…novel position to take as an American.

Freedom of Association is a pretty fundamental American right.

The right of a business owner to kick people out and not serve them has existed… forever. It’s how they deal with disruptive people who drive away customers and always have.
