You might as well bet it all, then. ;)

Thank you, because now I don’t have to copy the link on my phone.

Psh, I did copy the link on my phone, because MOTHERFUCKING AYREON BABY

Wow. I love the symphony metal combo here. Except the parts where he sings. Maybe that part will grow on me.

Thanks!

That’s terrifyingly short. I grew up thinking we were halfway through our lifespan so to speak. Less than a billion years! That’s shocking.

I expect the Earth to go and buy a sports car any day, now.

Funny thing is that it’s almost certainly possible to move the orbit of the earth further away from the sun over a billion years. A solar sail pulling on a big chuck of whatever at a lagrange point nearby could almost certainly do it. It might be the largest project post-humanity has ever done but it’s definitely doable.

Conversely mining enough hydrogen for fuel and tugging a giant asteroid near earth orbit with it might work too. We’re swimming in hydrogen in the solar system.

Given our reaction to climate change, I think we’d need a solution that only take 20 or so years to work.

Roy Moore: only the second most racist judge in Alabama.

In 2004, Parker was photographed handing out Confederate flags at a funeral. Even though that sounds like an egregious offense, the men he posed with were even more despicable. He was flanked by Leonard Wilson, a board member of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens, which describes black people as a “retrograde species of humanity”; and Mike Whorton, a leader with the League of the South, which advocates for the secession of Southern states.

That same year, Parker attended a party in Selma, Ala., for Nathaniel Bedford Forrest, the first leader of a little-known organization called the Ku Klux Klan (yes, the potato salad was terrible). Parker’s 2016 Supreme Court campaign was supported by another ally and neo-Confederate, Michael Peroutka, who travels the country preaching about merging the Bible, the Constitution and Confederate values.

Oh, and racism. Always racism.

Technically, there are many different singers on that song and the album in general! Maybe you’ll like some of them.

I love that particular genre of metal and listen to lots of similar and not so similar stuff, which I’ll now put into a spoiler-text.

In which Armando links a lot of music to Rock8Man because he is very enthusiastic

I guess I’m just honestly not sure I even believe that even people like Ted Cruz who seem to be fairly intelligent are really creationists. What do people think, is Cruz just saying this for political gain, or does he honestly not believe in evolution?

I just can’t even see how you could get through Biology 101 and be a creationist. Evolution is the single unifying theory of all the random bullshit that seems so bizarre in biology. Without it nothing makes any sense.

I guess maybe I can believe Pence truly believes it:

Having spent most of my life in those religious circles, I think he honestly does believe.

Bought and paid for.

Finally, an honest politician.

It’s possible to be intelligent and a creationist. I used to debate a lot of those guys. Depressing experience.

Well there are scientists and people who believe in science who also have a religion so… yes. I guess if you are basing intelligence on a level of accepting scientific outcomes, I mean.Creationism has a spectrum although most who label themselves as actual creationist tend to be at one end of it.

We used to have a very intelligent Young Earth creationist on this very board-- as I recall he was professionally a biochemist? He was very polite and seemed of very complete and sincere faith. As far as I recall, he believed that God made the world appear very old because that was the most natural/harmonious state of nature, but that if you looked at the world with the right eyes you could see the signs of recent creation just as described by the Bible.
