I tweeted @PressSec today that it didn’t have to be this way, that she could just walk away from her job, but then inside my head it sounded just like Lord Humongous. Then I went over his speech in my head it occurred to me that I meant pretty much everything he said, but in a nicer way. But not too much nicer.

Good for you. Its pretty apparent to me she has no conscience, like everyone who serves Trump. But a polite suggestion she doesn’t have to be evil never goes amiss.

What is wrong with these people? This guy posts like 20 twitter pics a day, all of them heinous, most filled with lies.

Found this horrible person as he responded to NC Governor tweet about pulling National Guard troops from the border patrol. https://twitter.com/PaulHart17

They’re evil.

Steve Schmidt, former McCain campaign manager:

29 years and nine months ago I registered to vote and became a member of The Republican Party which was founded in 1854 to oppose slavery and stand for the dignity of human life. Today I renounce my membership in the Republican Party. It is fully the party of Trump. It is corrupt, indecent and immoral. With the exception of a few Governors like Baker, Hogan and Kasich it is filled with feckless cowards who disgrace and dishonor the legacies of the party’s greatest leaders.

This child separation policy is connected to the worst abuses of humanity in our history. It is connected by the same evil that separated families during slavery and dislocated tribes and broke up Native American families. It is immoral and must be repudiated. Our country is in trouble. Our politics are badly broken.

The first step to a season of renewal in our land is the absolute and utter repudiation of Trump and his vile enablers in the 2018 election by electing Democratic majorities. I do not say this as an advocate of a progressive agenda. I say it as someone who retains belief in DEMOCRACY and decency. On Ronald Reagan’s grave are these words. “ I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph and there is purpose and worth to each and every life.”

He would be ashamed of McConnell and Ryan and all the rest while this corrupt government establishes internment camps for babies. Everyone of these complicit leaders will carry this shame through history. There legacies will be ones of well earned ignominy. They have disgraced their country and brought dishonor to the Party of Lincoln. I have spent much of my life working in GOP politics. I have always believed that both parties were two of the most important institutions to the advancement of human freedom and dignity in the history of the world. Today the GOP has become a danger to our democracy and values. This Independent voter will be aligned with the only party left in America that stands for what is right and decent and remains fidelitous to our Republic, objective truth, the rule of law and our Allies.

That party is the Democratic Party.

Welcome aboard! I know he’s made some questionable decisions in the past but I can’t help but 💗 Woke Schmidt.

Twitter should ban him for hate speech. But they won’t because $$$

I feel like it’s at least a year too late for these people to be having their come to Jesus moments. WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN THINKING FOR THE LAST YEAR OR SO???

-Tom

I’m still amazed people supported the GOP during the GWB years. This is just part of a decades-long slide down into the bottom of the well.

Steve isn’t one of those people, he’s been GOP-but-only-barely, for some time now. He’s a frequent speaker on a lot of the MSNBC political shows for that very reason, he can drill down into not just what went wrong, but even mistakes he made that he is regretful for.

Me too, I hear the guy nearly daily on my drive home on MSNBC. He’s a straight shooter who does not hold back in pointing out how evil the GOP has become. I’m really surprised it took him this long to announce a party move. I also love his cultural references he uses during comments.

“Mos Eisley Cantina Whitehouse. Full of shady characters, most of them on the wrong side of the law.”

Remember when Sean Spicer got the boot and there were some people saying, “He always seemed uncomfortable on the role. Perhaps he secretly didn’t like Trumpism that much?”

Naaah. That’s way overestimating the integrity of these bastards. which has been the common mistake all along. Spicer now works for a Super PAC promoting the Trump agenda (and using its fascist-inspired slogan.)

I shouldn’t be surprised that the fascists are using “America First.” I mean, I knew about this Super PAC (thanks, Scalia, enjoy your rotting!) before, but every time I hear about it my brain is like, “Nah, they couldn’t actually just be nakedly admitting that they’re a bunch of fascist goons,” but yep. Yep, they sure are.

Fuck this timeline.

You know it’s an old slogan, right?

Just checking. I mean, it sounds it even without the context. Not everyone reading that might be aware.

If I believe they are genuine, I have no problem with “come to jesus” moments. This administration must be resisted, and I welcome anyone who opposes it for the right reasons.

Back on Ross, here’s a discussion among law professors as to whether it would potentially be illegal (assuming the facts against Ross). One makes the case that under the STOCK act he might be liable as, on the basis that he was only tipped off to the story because he was government official, he has a duty to the government not to trade. Others less convinced.

Glad to know you finally found a line in the sand you were not willing to cross, Steve. Welcome to the party, the ale is in the cooler.

You missed the story over the weekend where Jesus announced he was leaving the GOP.

Utah’s Republican Lt. Governor has a bad night and starts to think. Read the whole thread.

(Mind, he almost immediately reverts to “the other side is just as bad, ummm, OK, maybe not, but could, in theory, potentially be just as bad.” But you can tell he’s not buying that completely, and a seed has been planted that may grow…)
