To Trump’s base, I assume George F. Will is just a bow-tier wearing east coast establishment elite. I would bet this is a net positive for that group.
But fuck them. Anyone supporting torturing brown kids because “it’s the law” would have been in favor of the holocaust and slavery, and for the same reasons. They can’t be convinced, so we’ll just have to outnumber them. Maybe there are GOP identity voters who will finally pay attention to where this is headed, then recoil in requisite horror.

At the very least, acknowledge that they aren’t represented by the GOP any longer. And if they have any ideological integrity, they do whatever they can to throw the Republicans out of office, and that means endorsing and voting for Democrats. It’s really that simple.

I think it’s very important that Republicans not be reeducated so that when the glorious liberal revolution does strip them of “their” country and replace it with a neverending cavalcade of gay marriage, taco trucks, and massive taxation on the rich, they’ll know exactly what they lost and why.
