'Member, 'member the time Mt Rushmore magically appeared? That was awesome.

I mean it’s kind of the SBC thread, but the fact that anyone would actually do this sort of shit for any reason says more about the GOP imo.

Also a reminder:
The GOP numbers are currently 25/26% and dropping.
I betting more people identify as socialists than Republicans. If not, that will likely be the case in under a decade.

Er, Reich typo’d there or something, right? It doesn’t mean that “fewer than 1 out of 4 people who are both American and Republican approve of Trump” (88% of those people approve of Trump, according to that poll). I think he meant “fewer than 1 out of 4 people who are American are Republican and approve of Trump”, or “fewer than 1 out of 4 Americans are people who are both Republicans and approve of Trump”.
Yeah, I was puzzled by that too. Maybe he meant to write “1 out of 4 people, who are both American and Republican, approve…” but forgot the commas?
He’s also assuming 0 approval from independents and Dems.

Yeah he’s missing commas.
Basically Trump has 88% approval… of 25% of the electorate. So less than 1 in 4 people supports him, since only 1 in 4 is a Republican and even some of those don’t approve. Nate Silver did a better breakdown of it recently.
Of course Reich is ignoring the non-Republicans that DO approve of Trump, which throws the %'s quite a bit higher.

Good news, only half of Republicans are racist!
Or at least willing to admit to it.

I’m genuinely surprised it’s only 50% that said it was bad.
Much of what passes for the conservative ‘movement’ these days is basically a grift or con. This is a typical example:
‘Activist’ organizations exist largely to funnel cash to the leaders of the group. They may do some incidental ‘activism’, but that’s not what they’re really for.

I’m not sure if it’s a sign of sanity or yet another attempt to sort of back things down, after the GOP has been in full on asshole mode for years now. You see plenty of discussion about how we need to stop talking past each other, how both sides need to calmly work things out, etc. But of course that’s only after the GOP has gotten their way with SCOTUS, gerrymandering, etc. NOW is the time to come together, as they see that things will likely change in the mid-terms! Now we need to be respectful and friendly to each other!
I am still genuinely amazed that people this stupid can get elected to important public offices. I mean, I shouldn’t be by now I guess. It’s a very sad commentary on the state of the American electorate that someone like Jason Spencer was ever elected. I guess it’s also a testament to the power of the PAC, as I’m assuming someone spent millions on commercials to get this moron in office?
I think the article’s speculation is likely accurate, that this is a personal thing on Haley’s part, an effort to distance herself from the Trumo brand of politics that she finds distasteful and counterpart to the idea that politics is the art of persuasion and compromise. Obviously she is an outlier in the current Republican Party in this regard
