Her life? Her freedom? Congress? President?! Nothing surprises me anymore so it could be any of these!

Haley was a good moderate Republican at one point, but i feel like she had compromised her morality and principles to such a degree in service to Trump that i can’t see myself trusting her again.
Such is the problem with compromising your reputation like that. You can’t really get it back.
I have a suspicion that Trump won’t actually run for re-election. Not that he’ll be impeached, but his future in office will be so undermined that he’ll decide to “focus on his business/health/whatever.”
I wouldn’t put heavy odds on that happening, but I think it’s well within the possible outcomes.

US conservatives want less regulation. Arguments about whether a regulation’s costs exceed its benefits, whether or not it creates “certainty,” whether or not it abrogates “state’s rights,” or whether or not the regulated companies want it are used the same way conservatives use arguments about the deficit — situationally, to block Democratic initiatives. Republicans are never restrained by those principles themselves. Their commitment is to deregulation itself, regardless of context or circumstances.
Every claim of federalism, uncertainty, etc., is met with new credulity by the press. It launches dozens of earnest white papers from liberal groups. It would be nice if everyone remembered, next time around, that these justifications are utterly opportunistic, offered in bad faith, and there’s no obligation to pretend otherwise.
Republican policy goals are deregulation and lower taxes. There is nothing else. All other GOP-promoted policies are in service to those two. And there is no tactic too dirty, no pol too compromised, no moral principle too violated as long as it’s in service to those two.

His handler Putin won’t allow that. How is he supposed to continue to sow discord if his favorite plaything just steps out of the picture? No, he’s got too much dirt on Trump to just let him do that.

He didn’t specify. Presumably Congress, but who knows?
Oh he could still sow plenty of discord out of office. Just muttering how the Derp State forced him out, and how whomever won isn’t legitimate, etc…

That was the original plan.
The Ryan 2024 campaign thinks you’re wrong!
It is, sadly, totally in line with the evolution of the GOP over the last 30 years or so.

Into raving hillbilly hobgoblins, apparently.
Well, the practice of attempting the delegitimization of political opponents by declaring them criminals can be traced back to the Gingrich revolution. 3 consecutive Republican administrations had been plagued by criminal acts by the principals (Watergate, Iran/Contra) and the GOP response was to launch nonstop charges of criminality against every Democratic President or candidate. Maybe doing it from the Oval Office is a newish tweak, but it’s part of their basic campaign and governance strategy now.
Remember, Gore was guilty of all the crimes they accused Clinton of, plus perpetrating climate science fraud. Kerry was a crook who defrauded the military into giving him medals. Obama was a terrorist, a secret foreign Muslim communist running for office so as to turn America over to the jihadists. Clinton was so manifestly criminal we should just pre-emptively lock her up. This isn’t happening because of Trump. It’s the other way around. Trump is doing it because it’s what they do.
I’ll take any steps in the right direction. Of course, she isn’t currently running for anything, nor is she dependent upon GOP Primary Voters currently, which gives her some cover.
I think the time for that calculation was before she went psycho in support of Trump at the U.N.
Baby steps. While I care about past doings, and in no way, shape or form trust any GOP candidate elected with this batshit insane electorate which they are feeding gasoline to, I’ll also gladly take signs that at least the gasoline feed is slowing for some.
