I got a mailer from my state senator today. I must confess that until today I didn’t even know his name.

In addition to various minor local initiatives, the mailer highlights the following:

Support of gun control
Protection for women who report sexual harassment
100% environmental scorecard
Reduce gender pay gap (interesting approach: prohibit employers from asking about past salaries, and prohibit employers from punishing those who reveal their own salary)

Huh, I thought. Could’ve sworn my state senator was a Republican, but it looks like he’s a Democrat.

Nope. A little Googling found that he’s a Republican. These days, it’s weird to find one that seems almost… reasonable. And of course it’s telling that “Republican” doesn’t actually appear on the mailer.
