The facts in this case are hilariously blatant.
He gets info that the drug trial failed, then he responds to that a minute later “whaaaaat?”
Then he tries calling his son, like 5 times in a row, within the next 5 minutes, eventually texting him that the drug trial failed.
Then his son dumped like a million and a half shares of the stock.
The explanations are going to be amazeballs.

“The Clinton Foundation is worse!”
That will be the explanation.

I meant the ones in court.
“It’s completely idiotic.”
“It’s the dumbest insider trading crime I’ve ever seen.”
We don’t need secret recordings to discover that Nunes is a piece of shit. The significance of these recordings though is the “if Mueller doesn’t clear trump” they will still protect him.
Edit: Here’s the quote.
Rep. Nunes: “If Sessions won’t un-recuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones – which is really the danger. That’s why I keep, and thank you for saying it by the way, I mean, we have to keep all these seats.”
Quite astonishing to see him just openly saying he doesnt care about whether or not Trump has broken the law the only aim is keeping him in power.
I think that’s about the most honest thing Nunes has ever been quoted as saying. Of COURSE he’s going to protect Trump… he has no choice, the man is basically welded to Trump’s coattails.
As a change of pace, Kate Wagner, the writer of the McMansion Hell blog, dissects Betsy DeVos’s McMansion.
“How can you be so rich and have such poorly upholstered chairs?” pretty much sums up Trump’s America.
Why settle for metaphor, I ask you?

Correct me if I’m wrong, Rod, but by taking that new profession you’ll have increased gains for happiness mood and your mischief skill, but also a slight negative to your charisma skill and possible random drops to your relationship meters with others.
Or so they tell me. I mean, I wouldn’t know, I’m just relaying on information from a friend, for reference.

On the issue of dealing with the GOP more generally blogger Kevin Drum makes IMO a strong argument for fighting the GOP as hard as possible.
Key quote:
"Today, the Republican Party exists for one and only one purpose: to pass tax cuts for the rich and regulatory rollbacks for corporations. They accomplish this using one and only method: unapologetically racist appeals to win the votes of the heartland riff-raff they otherwise treat as mere money machines for their endless mail-order cons.
Like it or not, this is the modern Republican Party. It no longer serves any legitimate purpose. It needs to be crushed and the earth salted behind it, while a new conservative party rises to take its place. This new party should be conservative; brash; ruthless when it needs to be; as simpleminded as any major party usually is; and absolutely dedicated to making Democrats look like idiots. There should be no holds barred except for one: no appeals to racism. None. Not loud ones, not subtle ones. Whatever else it is, it should be a conservative party genuinely open to any person of any color.
When that happens, I will change my mind about how we should fight the Republican Party. "
I think that sums up my POV pretty well, with the exception that I feel that in addition to being free from racism, the new conservative party has to avoid the current right wing catastrophe of denying reality, breaking norms, exploiting rules and generally cheating politically like MF’ers. A new conservative party needs to be racism free and bad faith free.
As an aside, if you want an intar-tube simulacrum of my political views, it’s probably a mish-mash of the blog of Kevin Drum and sci-fi author John Scalzi, with less cat pictures.

As always, an excellent point, Sharpe. And I agree with it completely. My only issues come from my personal friends, family and acquaintances who are GOP faithful about this exact problem. And there, the fix it not so cut and dry.
I cannot and will not separate my life from theirs over what has happened, but I will actively and sometimes passively rebel and remind them when I can.
LMAO :) I wish I had a better response but may I just say, well played :)

Just thought I’d throw in here that Rick Wilson’s book came out the other day.
I just started it, but in the opening he takes a lot of blame for where the GOP is since he was basically their negative ad attack dog for a couple decades.
Wow, I actually agree with something Kevin Drum wrote. This is scary.
