I think I’ve figured it out.

The reason so many of these people have bowed to such lows under Trump and the increasingly insane GOP is because… they are the ones who truly believe American has no future. Planning on impending doom means subjugating others so when it does you have unquestionable authority and you’re one of the “winners”. Talking about those who aren’t in it for straight hate.
