This is one reason the GOP needs Originalists on the SC, so they can make sure none of the states get together and create any shared voter registration system to help eliminate fraud and make sure duplicate registrations are prevented. Because if there is no chance of voter registration errors, then they lose the justification for the voter roll purging. All it takes in a red state nowadays is not voting in two or three elections in a row, or not responding after ONE returned nondelivery mailing, and you will be suspended or removed and pushed into the other line to vote provisionally, which is extra time and hassle to vote.

They are flat-out trying to steal the election.

On a more serious note, what is happening in this country is disgusting. Election rigging on a national scale, with hundreds of thousands if not millions of citizens stripped of their Constitutional rights, and thousands more who were promised citizenship (and the resulting rights) having that promise revoked despite having done everything required to obtain it. All in the name of keeping one party in control…and why isn’t the other party screaming bloody murder in the media?
What is going to happen in this country if the midterms clearly show the blue wave thwarted by GOP election rigging?

At some point, if enough people really believe that the election system is not fair and/or is being manipulated, then we have ceased to be a functional democracy. At that point, either the losers can accept their status, or shit is going to get real ugly.

Maybe the GOP is OK with the idea of 60’s-level political violence breaking out nationwide. It would accelerate the movement toward authoritarianism. A GOP base terrified of poor people, immigrants and blacks would permit, even demand martial law.
