From what I understand ( and its entirely possible that I am mistaken) the only immobile pretender that can teleport/cloud trapeze is the monolith. The Irimsul and the oracle/blood fountain, and the other statues cannot, even if they had the capability.

Afaik, if it can cast the spell, it can move…

Also, 5/9 in for Hangman - get em in there people!

QTHangman

I’m a bit tied up right now with the most important part of Pretender design, which is the name…

I read that monuments can’t teleport, they are an exception. But fountains can.

I did a test and the tree can’t cloud trapese, gateway nor faery trod but it can teleport.

Yeah, or just do the same for your prophet, or kill your prophet off and make a more desirable mage your prophet in a few turns (or however long it takes to assign another).

I was checking out my magic item inventory and there were just way too many cool weapons I want to try out that I have never had before. Hope we get to see them in action ;). This could be quite an interesting battle.

Just one more false god is needed on the gallows! Sharaleo, are you ready to be hanged?

After consulting with my colleagues, Snoozers can be declared completed. Congratulations Akaoni, the whole world kneels at your feet. Or stone, or stone feet…or whatever passes for your base.

I’ll have a write up for ermor soon…

Yeah, not too far away now.

And QTHangman is away.

A year ago, when we started this game, I still hadnt played a lot of Dom4. Looking at ermor, and seeing a nation with a broad level of low level caster support, i figured that I wanted a pretender that augmented those casters. Eventually i selected a 4A/4E/3N gorgon - all were there to allow for boosters in their respective paths, and AE were there for the major lategame spell support, as well as the staff, which would bring the perfect tool for boosting my elemental-pathed flamen. The gorgon chassis was mostly there because it fit the paths, allowed for a reasonable dominion(7), and order, productivity and luck scales…also, it could fly and is a pretty good combat chassis if necessary (though I didn’t plan to use it that way).

For ermor, the opening years were idyllic. I didn’t have any close neighbors, i had a huge swath of room to my south and 3 distinct chokepoints that served as my borders. Here is ermor at the end of the third year:

We have Kailasa to the southeast, Ulm to the south(later replaced by Fomoria), Ctis to the west and southwest, Machaka to the northwest, and Arcos to the northeast. Strangely (and still to the end of game), i never figured out why Ermor was allowed to get so much water territory. Here, in year 3, with help of some neutral Ichtyids, you can see Ermor testing the waters - and in another year or so, ermor would claim all of the water through until the area north of Ctis. Diplomatically, things seemed good - Arcos, Machaka and Kail all seemed satisfied with the natural borders assumed, and so my choices for expansion seemed to the south and to the west. Ctis and I bumped a bit, particularly when i targeted the southwest throne (2 pt, Astral throne with misfortune) and shortly afterwards ran into his forces. Looking at the map then, i realized what a crap position Ctis had drawn (that is really stupid the game would put him there with only 2 connected land properties) and decided I his position in the south was tenuous and I had good opportunity for a limited offensive. Later when dfs left the game, i negotiated with the new Ctis player, ceasing hostilities in exchange for all territory east of Ctis’ capital neighboring swamp province - this caused a bit of static with my alliance partner Arcos who was attacking Ctis from the other side, but considering the troops and losses i would sustain attacking Ctis’ southern fort, it was a price well worth paying.

Even at this stage, certain trends were emerging. 1) Ermor had no native scouts - not one of the provinces I had taken produced scouts. Even in the late game (lol, even at end game), i still didn’t know where Pan’s capital was. The only scouts ermor ever produced were from its forts. 2) Ermor had next to no death income. Ermor’s death strength was what i was thinking of in end game - this all went to pieces when i never found any death income - 3/4 gems a month were all ermor ever had - and most of these were consumed for forging. 3) That nature throne was bugged. I think we all saw this, but particularly in the early days of the game before it got patched, the thone was out of control. I had growth 2/3 everywhere. I was getting lumber constructs and various other ‘woody’ creatures. I had so many wolf events and various other things related to it.

Congrats, Akaoni!

That was an interesting last battle, pyrhic. I only scripted one spell on my 4E mage and he came up with that Shatter on your Golem all on his own. That surprised me.

I believe my one Dai Oni killed himself on your gorgon (not sure if it was the shield or the gorgon), but he switched to Oni Spirit form and reverted back at the end of the battle with all of his magic gear still.

I will do a bit of a summary once I can gather some details of the game.

QTSnoozers

Thanks guys! I will edit my comments here shortly. Dealing with the unexpected revelation that my teen blew a lot of credit card $$ on kim kardashian apps… I mean, I thought I taught him TASTE, at the very least.

Lol! You win in some areas, you lose in others, it seems.

Was it really a year ago?

I’ll do my half of the C’tis AAR.

Thank you. It WAS a crap position, but this was my fourth try at playing C’tis and I just never really managed to get the hang of them. Sometimes selecting the right nation is half the battle. I’ve never been able to get a decent expansion with C’tis. Like Ermor, without national scouts C’tis is pretty much hosed on a map with no indy scouts. I was able to use several black servants as scouts, but that means every scout cost gems AND a mage turn. That makes information VERY expensive and trying to conduct diplomacy without information doesn’t work very well.

Many thanks to Tylertoo who subbed in for me and I’m glad that he managed to cause many losses given the pretty terrible position I left him in. Sometimes acting as a sub in a game like this can be fun precisely because you aren’t attached to the nation/position. I hope that you had fun.

About my exit…After 10 years of playing 2 or more games of Dominions at a time, I just suddenly found myself not enjoying the game. I’m sure part of my discontent was simply burnout, but part was the demands of real life intruded to the point where I could not put in the type of time that I knew I would need in order to do my best. It’s still fun reading the thread. Maybe in a year or two after hangman is done, I’ll throw my hat back in the ring.

Now that Snoozers is over I suppose I can show the videos

Ermor vs Fomoria

Pangea vs Ermor

The humble monkey nation that resides in the center of the world bids all other nations welcome. We wish to live in harmony, tranquility, and peace with all of our neighbors. We offer high quality bananas as trade, as our fields produce multiple crops per year. However, we are a poor nation. We wish to remain in our peaceful enclaves and watch as those who do not eat bananas rage and clash around us.

As a cave dweller that looks with suspicion the super glowing thing well above our heads, I hope things go all right for the other Cave-dwelling nation Xibalba

sekret plan

and that way, eventually, they will cast Theft of the Sun that I also can enjoy!

Cave dwellers BFF!

Thanks for the game, everybody! I can’t believe a year has passed since we started.

I think I started out pretty well with Arco. I managed to expand reasonably fast, and I was pretty focused on research, so I managed to get first dibs on a lot of artifacts. I also managed to recruit 5 of the elemental royalty, so I was pretty well positioned for the late game, or so I thought. Unfortunately I got bogged down against C’tis, which too me way too long to siege (not to mention all the failed assaults), and when I went to war against Pan my poor guys were heavily abused by his Dryads. I wasn’t really paying much attention to protecting my guys from seduction/assassination, and by the time I started doing that, I had already lost too many troops.

One thing that really bugged me throughout the game was a total lack of nature gems. I had some very nice plans that couldn’t be carried out because of that. I did manage to get a few gems after taking over C’tis, but that was too little, too late.

Anyway, thanks again for the game, everybody. It was fun and educational. :)
