While there have been much worse launches, this isn’t flawless by any means. A lot of bugs, server downtime and instability issues. In relation to other large MMO (or even just multiplayer focused launches) I would say it sits right in the middle.

No no, you are doing that wrong. Stusser has said that its just NOW that is the launch, and not the previous days, so actually there has been no downtime yet ;-)

Trying the US server, just says timeout at the logging in screen over and over
Today is the launch day, yes. You may commence judging harshly!
If you weren’t part of the early access, you may need to set up your subscription to kick off your free 30 days.

I am in, seemed like a repair was needed, launch is now very smooth ;)
Good luck calibrating the success of launch day along the Razgon-rei spectrum scale.

I think that would be an awesome move!

What do you guys think is the best way to level a crafting toon?
I’ve been thinking about making crafting alts, but it seems you would severely gimp yourself since you need to put so many skill points into your crafting profession.
Since the only real way to get skill points is to quest and do PVE, you wouldn’t have many skill points left over for your combat techs, so you would be really limited.
Even if you had main toon out farming mats, you can’t get very far as a crafter in ESO without doing the PVE content, right? Am I missing something?
I just completed a time travel quest that was entirely offensive on both a lore and mechanics level, to the point where it passed from being simply bad and became hilarious.
There’s a post I made a page or so ago detailing that you get a lot of skill points. Enough so that you can specialize in one or two crafting professions and not gimp your character. Now if you want to master more than 2 professions, yeah, you’d probably need some alts. But otherwise, a single character should be fine.

I think there’s a respec npc in the second larger zone for each faction, so if you could get there and do all the quests/skyshards on the way you’d probably have enough skillpoints to max out 2-3 professions.
Is “General” the only military rank some of the Zenimax quest designers know of? I feel like every other soldier I encounter has the rank of General.
There’s Recruit Gorak, who pressures you to overstate his usefulness in a quest to his superior officer. I assume he’ll be gazetted General in no time. Edit: And we all know that men promoted from the ranks are always take to drink or, worse, conduct their own private wars.

Please note the race of the three generals you have talked to, compare it to the races in the alliance, and make the connection?
You can compare it to the leaders of the Allies in WW2 who also had several leaders named general.
And you can please note what activities the “generals” are performing. There are “generals” handing out day to day tasks in the PVP zones. They’re leading groups small enough to hole up in a single house. I’ve met one general in the game who actually seemed like he was commanding a large number of troops, out of the roughly half dozen generals I’ve met.
Keep that in mind…I’ve met about a half dozen generals. I’m level 14, and I’ve done fuckall. They’re all over the damned place. There are two in the PVP zone that seem to have about the significance of a recruiting sergeant.
It’s a lot like how they have you meeting ghosts god damned everywhere. If a ghost is showing up in every 5th quest, ghosts aren’t all that special. There’s no impact.
Less is more.

“That scalate quickly”.
At level 15 I am doing quests for a Godness and just made a quest where my companion whas the boss of the fighters guilds (where I am probably level 2). So yes, the game suffer from rank inflaction.
I don’t even know what type of entities will give me quest at level 50. What is super than a god? maybe a continent size mudcrab, a collectivity of echos from the creation, the planet itself?
I don’t mind much, and I am having fun. hehehe
…
Everyone knows the only real god is Azura, and maybe M’aiq the Liar. All these other “gods” are just powerfull mages and necromancers.

I think we view fun in games quite differently, so I’ll just shut up here.
My respect for the quest system is really dropping. Not only do I still hate how each time you bring up the quest menu random quests you unchecked before are randomly checked and selected again (and not to mention the fact that selecting/checking/waypointing quest chain entries often only creates more confusion than it alleviates) but it appears that some quest chain links can actually be satisfied by merely showing up at certain locations. Take the Undaunted Spindleclutch quest, for instance. It was five levels above me and I quickly realized after arriving to that cave of large spiders that I was underpowered, and so after a few one-shot humiliations and realizing that I didn’t yet have any friends who could help out I gave up without killing a single foe, and yet it seems that I satisfied some requirement because I just reported back to The Mighty Mordra who celebrated my success with much drink and song and gave me the next link in the quest chain. WTF?
