At this point, I can’t seriously consider paying to access an MMO client with a subscription.

That’s my problem. I’d gladly shell out the $30 for the client, but once that free month is over there’s no way. Though I did throw $200 at Turbine for a lifetime sub, but that was over 7 years ago and those days are gone. Plus at almost 50 and with two kids, I just don’t have the free time to pour into an MMO like I did earlier last decade.

I cancelled my recurring sub, after a couple of months of fun but rather intermittent play (I picked up the game half price at least). It’s solid, and I may well be back, but not worth fifteen zucchinis a month. Navigation is still awkward, and I actually found leveling to be pretty slow, partly because I never really got hooked on the quests and stories and partly because I probably wasn’t min/maxing very well. Still, it’s intriguing, good looking, and increasingly polished, so if they go F2P I’ll certainly come back.

The Elder Scrolls Online Imperial Edition is on sale at Amazon.com for $47.98 and from Steam for $47.99.

I am tempted to take the plunge just to experience the game.

FWIW, I was able to get the Imperial edition for $65 at release thanks to GMG and found I got my money’s worth out of it, although I didn’t subscribe past the first month. I think it’s a good game and it has the potential to be a really interesting MMO if they get around to adding the other Elder Scrolls type of content they talked about (Stealing from NPCs, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, etc).

I picked up the Imperial Edition at launch as well. I enjoyed it quite a bit but also didn’t sub past the first month. I think that it was more of a statement about my personal gaming tastes these days as opposed to anything terribly wrong with the game. I just can’t stick with any MMOs for long any more.

My experience similar to KevinC’s. Great fun playing on the standard edition, but when it came time for the first sub I’d had my fill and moved on. Great game while my attention lasted and I felt I got my money’s worth in quality entertainment.

I never did earn enough gold for a horse mind you. :P

I am only level 18, but having a blast so far. First time I’ve stayed up until 3:00 AM playing a game in a long time. I purchased the Zygor leveling guide and use some other add-ons.

This game is currently #3 on Steam’s top seller list. I admit I’m a bit surprised by that, given that MMOs are online-only to begin with, I would have thought that a good chunk of people who make up their potential customers had either heard about it or picked it up by now. I wonder how much of the sales are from now being on Steam vs. being $29.99.

or current players who just want that Wolf Hound pet

When we messed about with UI back in release there were around 8 or so Hound pet graphics, I guess one finally made it into the game.
How you go about getting one?

Guess the Physical Imp Edition doesn’t get that one.

You don’t. The wolfhound is only for Steam Imperial Edition buyers. If you buy another copy on Steam, you cannot link it to your current account – you’d have to start over.

ZOS has said there will be a brown wolfhound available through some means to all players at sometime in the future. There are no other details at all on that.

There seems to be a substantial set of people that won’t buy a PC game at all unless it’s on Steam. That said, I’m sure the $30 price was attractive to people that were on the fence before that didn’t feel the MMO client was worth $60. At least with a $30 price, it’s easier to justify with the first month of play time.

Awesomiumprocess.exe annoyingly must be manually killed. Seems to be a hog. Used by the LOTRO store and DDO.

EDIT: dammit, this has been clogging my system since I played LOTRO.

and just playing ESO the thing is back :(

EDIT: just upgraded to 8gb ram, the loads are so much faster. Such a cheap change.

They must be crazy!

They are moving the european server to europe.

Now european would be able to play this videogame from their 4x2 TV’s from inside their radiactive shelters, while Bio-GermanEs, IslamoMongols and Drunk Russians fight for the control of the surface.

and another SNAF Update major theme guilds, so guilds instantly disabled. It’s as if they don’t test.

Tried this again when the client hit $20. So much for their fancy voicework from name-actors: there’s a jarringly different voice actor after you leave the tutorial for the prophet since they had to rerecord additional lines. Old NPC text/dialog still doesn’t reflect that the transition NPC found you instead of the original one in the newbie area. I guess they couldn’t afford Michael Gambon to re-record.

Combat and quests are still boring as hell.

Well, this is stupid. If you delete your first character that has the preorder/what-would-be-bind-on-account-in-Wow, the item is deleted. Versus WoW where it respawns for each new character.

They… still haven’t addressed that? I figured that was a Day 1 launch oversight/glitch.

There’s a warning before you delete but I ignored it since I don’t care. This is amateur hour everything. Even SWTOR was more competent.
