That looks pretty awesome.

…Vvardenfell?! gasp

Well…that IS exciting…

Only if we can employ the traditional Vvardenfell method of securing housing. I.e. bait a shopkeeper or home owner into attacking you, murder them in self defense, squat in their property.

That makes sense. My Breton NB though has few qualms at this point, having been embittered by an arrow in the knee.

As touched on in the conference, One Tamriel summary here:

http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2016/06/12/matt-firors-message-from-be3

  • Characters will have their level scaled the same way that we currently scale players to the level of DLC zones (Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood).
  • You will be able to explore the entire world in any sequence you wish - just walk across the world and you will always find appropriately leveled content.
  • You will be able to play and group with anyone in the game at any time (outside of PvP). No longer will you have to create a lower level character to play with a friend who has just joined the game. You will be able to group and adventure together from the moment your friend emerges from the tutorial.
  • We are dropping all PvE Alliance restrictions. You will be free to explore of all Tamriel, including other Alliances. It is up to you how you want to role-play your character while doing this. “Silver" and “gold" versions of zones will be replaced by Cadwell quest storylines that you can do in any order you wish.
  • Alliance restrictions will still be enforced in all PvP areas, of course. One Tamriel will not affect the PvP systems in Cyrodiil.
  • In general, higher level players will be the same “level" as lower level players, but they will have far more tools in their arsenal: better gear, more abilities, and of course more Champion points.
  • We will adjust gear rewards to scale appropriately to make sure that there is always a way to get more powerful via crafting, questing, PvP, and dungeon/trial boss loot drops.
  • All Trials and Dungeons will continue with standard and Veteran difficulty modes, and you will have to be Veteran level to play veteran dungeon modes.
  • The Coldharbour zone will be “roped off" from players who have not yet completed the quests that lead there. However, if you are invited to a group that is already there, or travel to a friend who is there, you can immediately access the zone.

Finally, after having played in the beta and at launch, then dropping it for quite some time, got a character to 50 (my stamina NB archer Breton, clearly not min/maxed). I’m still thoroughly impressed by the progress since launch, and I think the PvE experience is among the best out there. The world building they’ve done is great.

Of course, hitting 50 (after defeating the worst monster of all, the nearly game-killing bugs in the God of Schemes final quest) only means I have to do Champion levels, which is fine, as they seem to come pretty fast initially and I realized that, like Paragon levels in D3, all my characters benefit from them. But I was hoping to do the usual MMO thing where at level cap you ditch your gear and get all new stuff, as usually the level capped gear is a lot better. Um no. Not here. All the good stuff is like Champion 160. Some is 40. I’m currently 30. So I’ve got some 49, some 47, one or two stock 50/10 stuff. Bummer.

I’ve also never, ever, run a dungeon in this game. I’ve only grouped maybe once. I don’t feel I actually understand the mechanics well enough, or have characters geared well enough, to do much for a group. Of course that limits me to found, crafted, or bought stuff, and the merchant interface for the guild merchants looks like Volkswagen designed it along with their in-car infotainment systems. That is, it sucks.

But this is definitely a cool game. My favorite bit, though, may still be in Khenarthi’s Roost, where the Kajit lady is horrifying watchers with an adorable lab puppy in a cage.

Normal dungeons are incredibly easy in this game, so you really don’t have to stress about it. Go to Grahtwood, grab the normal undaunted pledge for the day, and it should be fairly easy to get a group as a DPS either via zone chat or group finder. You just need to make sure you have an AoE attack (volley/barrage) and single dps attack (poison injection/snipe) and you’re set. As long as your gear is close to your current CP level you’ll be scaled up generously with the rest of your group (so long as they enter the dungeon through group finder.)

If you’re really having trouble getting appropriate gear, send me your @name and I’ll craft some for you. I imagine getting from 40 to 160 should be pretty quick though given the enlightenment system.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, I’m crafting my own leather and bows, more or less, though I need to invest more time in that part of the game. Ultimately, I’m not worried anyhow, as I no longer obsess on these sorts of things. I’m content to just wander the world killing stuff mostly.

I love this game, but continually freeze up when trying to make a build. Especially since the way numbers work are changed all the time.

For instance, last night I wanted to make a Sorceror with two-handed weapons, but I really have no clue how to do it now. Does it HAVE to stamina based? Or can I use magic? What good does the swords damage do then? Sadly, I have no clue, so I went back to my lvl 21 Stamina templar which works quite well.

I’ve recently been getting back into the game and as far as I know 2h and dual weapon casters still work. The damage increase from the 2h and dual passives effect your spell damage.

I use dual swords on my primary attack bar with no points in stamina. I’m not really worried about my weapon attack damage although it still does decent.

Thanks Driveled!

So, all points in Magica and health - How do you increase Two-handed then - Is it enough to wear it, or do I need a skill on the action bar? Nice to know damage increasing in the weapon skill lines affect damage. The whole stats/weapons system is the one thing Im finding too complex about the game.

Oh - and you don’t attack with the weapons right? Just with the spells?

I believe it increases without any skills slotted but it will skill up faster with at least one (possibly faster with more). That’s just my observation.

I use my melee weapons to proc the enchantment, refill the stam bar sometimes, or finish off really low mobs. They still do okay damage you just won’t be spamming any stamina abilities.

Nice - Thanks for the explanation. I’ll give it a go!

Basically since 1.6 there are only two viable paths: Magicka or Stamina.

Magicka focuses on using your class skills that are magicka based and/or the destruction and restoration skill lines. You do see magicka sorcs and nightblades using dual wield but it’s only for the increase to spell power that you get from a passive in the dual wield skill line. Not sure but I don’t think 2h gives you a spell power increase any more. You definitely get more spell power through dual wield afaik. I use that on my magicka nb.

Stamina focuses on some of the class skills that were converted plus the Dual Wield, 2 handed, sword and board, and bow “weapon” skill lines.

You will want to dump most of your points into the appropriate attribute and then maximize spell power if you are a magicka based player or weapon power if you are stamina based.

Tip for while you are leveling. Just put a skill on your back bar where you have space. When you turn in quests, toggle your back bar on and then turn the quest in. You will level up not only the skill but the skill line as well. You don’t have to be actually using the skill while you fight.

Edit: Yes, I do believe that if you equip a 2h weapon you will level up that skill line even if you don’t use any of the skills.

Also if you are just leveling your first character then don’t worry too much about focusing on stam or magicka. If you can win the fights and finish the quests then you are on the right track and will have all your skill lines ready for end game when you will definitely want to choose stam or magicka.

If you are a magicka sorc using a destruction staff then you might want to weave in a light attack for PvE. It will help your dps and generate ultimate.

This is what I’ve been doing. Have a Breton sorcerer with dual wield weapons primary focused on Magic and it’s so fun. Just reached level 10 last night and am having a blast.

Does anyone have a good source of current numbers such as mundus effects and the math behind these stats. I’d like to make sense of the crit numbers I see on gear and what not.

Simply googling results in a lot of old information and I understand much of this stuff has changed.

Here’s where I go for all my item set stats, etc.
