I was down on stam sorc before, but I was wrong, they’re actually pretty decent since the latest changes. I’m levelling one myself.

For crafting though (if you’re in it for the long haul) I would actually recommend levelling blacksmith/clothier/woodwork on one toon, since the different motifs (styles) you learn are not shared across characters.

Yeah that’s a good idea, though the points you have to put into the crafting to use the high end stuff require like ten points in a passive for that craft, so if you do three, that’s a lot of skill points. But I guess there are plenty to be had.

Yeah, I’ve got almost 300 skill points on my character. It’s not enough to run all the craft skill lines and my class/weapon lines that I need but a quick respec is possible if you need to craft something. It is important to level the craft skills to 50 if you want to be independent but generally you can find people to craft almost anything and guild stores supply almost everything else. I have provisioning at 50 but just buy my drinks from a guild trader. Make sure you do select the passives though that add extra time to your food/drink buffs.

I used to like finding stam sorcs as targets and would only avoid one particular player called FENGRUSH but nowadays I am a lot more cautious when taking them on. They are probably still the red headed step child of the classes but when played well they can be deadly.

I’ve watched his twitch feed. The level of play is ridiculous.

Today the DLC Shadows of the Hist dropped for ESO. It’s a smallish DC content wise…basically it’s 2 new dungeons, a base game addition of a style parlor (race, name and appearance changes).

http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2016/07/26/update-11-guide-eso-style-parlor

Don’t know that I’m that thrilled with it since I’m not a huge vet dungeon pve fan (because I suck) but since I have ESO plus it’s not a big deal. It is pretty reasonably priced at 1500 Crowns.

The big question is what comes next probably in November? One Tamriel is certain but maybe Vvardenfell or parts of it? There have been some rumors going around that it’s being worked on.

Some of the ground work for player housing is supposedly in this patch, per the notes warning of some areas where non-enterable builidngs and resituated NPCs might be found. But the ETA on that is who knows.

I’m mulling over swapping my Breton NB to something like Khajit or Bosmer. As I’m almost at 50 with my first sorc, which I enjoy playing a bit more than my NB, I’ve pretty much made my NB a crafter, with woodworking, clothing, and provisioning at 50 and blacksmithing in the 40s. I’m mostly working on the incredibly drawn out process of researching enough traits to actually craft good set pieces. Anyhow, this NB is a stamina build with a focus on bows and dual wield, and medium armor. The Breton racial passives, ahem, are all useless except for the spell resistance one, while Khajit, Bosmer, and Redguard all offer nice stamina and some other advantages. But I’m not sure it’s actually worth it as I’ll probably spend more time on my weird sorc.

The CPs make leveling a bit easier, not as much as Paragon levels in D3 but still pretty effective. My sorc is a Breton too, but that’s more logical for a magicka character. I’m assuming that when she hits 50 (she’s 48 now) she’ll instantly be CP whatever my main is, as she already has all those CPs? That is, I can instantly outfit her in CP 160 gear, I hope. It’s a bit of an odd build, that Im not 100% sure I’ll keep, but I have liked it. Heavy armor with two-handed on one bar and destro staff on the other. My rotation for the first is generally surge, lightning form, the charge from two-handed, immovable from heavy armor, and then the instant lightning spell and swinging the lightning enchanted weapon thingy at people. Usually, with the passives for shock damage, stuff goes boom pretty well, and it’s flashy, but the TTK can be low for big mobs. On the destro staff bar right now I have the instant lightning, the shards, the basic staff boomstick spell, and the PBAOE spell with the DoT morph, plus bound armor. It’s pretty effective, and when either of these isn’t enough, hit R for Overload ult and destroy stuff. I’m easily able to take down triple elite world bosses solo this way, albeit in the 40s still. And this with level 38 armor, because I haven’t found anything better yet (running the twice-born set with magicka and magicka regen mundus).

My vision was always a sort of battle mage or mage/tank, hence the heavy armor. I do worry though that I may not have the DPS to really deal with deep health pools on mobs, but I’m hoping decent gear will help.

Up next is either a DK or Templar, but i’m waffling on races there.

Yes, that’s exactly how it will work or so I have been told. I only have one character. I’ve been tempted to make some alts in the past but now with the crafting bag I don’t really have to unless I want to try out some other classes.

I did use up a chunk of my crowns to do a race change on my magicka melee Khajiit night blade. It was painful because I really liked be a Khajiit but since I’m playing magicka is was just too much of a handicap. For pvp the crit bonus and stealth bonus wasn’t equal to what the dunmer could offer 9% max magicka and 6% stam. Just too good to pass up.

But now since I’m not so stealthy anymore I really have to work for my thieving to earn gold. :)

Housing does look really cool. I’m assuming it’s instanced. I’m wondering though if you will buy stuff with gold or crowns?

My Breton NB was not my absolute first character (that one and several others perished in one of my pique purges early on when the game was originally subscription only), but she’s the only one of that initial bunch to make it through. What’s interesting is that, whether because of the CP or just because sorcs are uber, my second character through is breezing through content that often stymied my NB. Of course, the insanity of a stamina NB who’s a Breton didn’t help, yeah.

I have tried to start DKs and Templars but I can’t get any traction. I have an Orc magicka Templar at 15 (though at that level, you can pretty much swap to stamina with no probs I guess), but can’t really get into him. I have no DKs at all. I do have a baby Khajit NB I wanted to make just a thief to do the guild quests and steal stuff right and left, as well as a Dunmer magicka NB (both very small), but the thought of leveling up another NB right now is not appealing.

I’ve wanted to have a Nord, but I can’t really think of anything they do well.

I think they just drink and stagger around Eastmarch. Not sure what that passive is called. :)

Apologies if this topic has been covered before.

Crown packs are on sale in the Xbox Store this week. Which expansions are the most worthwhile or do they all add something equally? I am coming at this from a primarily solo perspective focused on exploring and doing narrative content.

Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood both offer excellent narratives. Orsinium is more of “hey here’s an extra much higher-quality zone”. Imperial Shitty is PvP-only, and the latest Hist one is just 2 extra dungeons.

Thank you this is really helpful information!

Yep, totally agree. Especially if you have routine that you want to do like log in, do your crafting writs, do the Thieves Guild Heist and Dark Brotherhood Black Sacrament dailies. Just doing those 3 things takes about 30 mins (with some practice) and can net you a good gold income stream.

I have to say that I really enjoy the unlimited assassination quests. When you go to find your target, he or she has a black hand icon over their head. It’s sort of fun finding them and then trying to figure out where and when they will be alone. If you want to though you can just clobber them in broad daylight with or without the blade of woe. With the DB passives that you get, your heat and bounty decay pretty quickly.

Yeah, I decided to reinstall the game and I was just about to ask that very question. Thank you!

I’ve not even touched the TG and DB stuff yet, I’ve just been enjoying the in-game quests so much I subscribed.

They got a buff this patch (+6% max stamina), so Nords make decent tanks. But in terms of versatility they are much worse than the stamina races (if you’re into min/maxing, that is.)

wrt the CP stuff, that’s how it works, once you get one character to CP160, all your subsequent characters will turn CP160 (or whatever you actual CP is) as soon as they hit level 50.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, Nords are cool, but they need an offensive boost, say to two-handed or something. I’m not a real min-maxer, but for my first time with a class I don’t want to repeat my earlier mistakes of racial mismatches.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I picked a redguard templar for my first character, but I found that I wasn’t really fond of the stamina templar play style (magicka templar is a lot more fun, imho.) Now I’m looking at a $20 race change. hm.

With the CP system it really isn’t too much trouble to recreate a character, except I have all my motifs and crafting traits on that guy, so I’m stuck with him. I’m tempted to turn him Argonian, except I haven’t figured out a good lizard name yet.

Race really matters in ESO. This is very unusual for a modern MMO.

Argonian names are very descriptive. “Laughs-At-Fear”, “Runs-With-Cloud”. Or you can make up fantasy names like “Baresa-El”, “Wei-Narreka”, and so on.

I’m just glad the game has a Breton sorcerer, which is my preferred character type ever since Daggerfall. I’m very happy with how it plays in ESO. :)
