Must be Bill Murray week. I’m watching Groundhog’s Day. Still stands up and the feel good message is still good without being too touchy feely. I think that Bill Murray definitely contributes to that. Any other actor might make the lead character too likeable but Bill Murray is able to show the growth of the character without losing the feeling that deep inside there’s still a bit of a scoundrel, an imp a mischief maker.
Too bad Andie McDowell is such a drip. But yeah, I like that movie.
Don’t forget to give Harold Ramis his due. He has written some of the best comedy screen plays, but never seems to get a mention.

But doesn’t Analyze That, Ghostbusters II, Caddyshack II, and Club Paradise help to negate some of that goodwill?
Negate Ghost Busters, Stripes, Caddyshack, Meatballs, Animal House and Ground Hog Day? No.
Caddyshack II is funny just to see how amazingly untalented Dan Aykroyd is when left to himself.
Ghostbuster II treats us to a major comedy sequel that is unable to deliver one single solitary laugh.
Never saw Club Paradise, but someone has to make movies so Brian Doyle-Murray can be in them.
And Analyze That - never saw it.

What happened to Aykroyd, anyway? He’s had exactly one good part since Ghostbusters: Grosse Point Blank. Yech, what a career.
And I think Ramus gave himself the best part in the history of comedy with Spengler.
See, while Aykroyd hasn’t made a whole lot of good movies, I remember a lot of these movies very fondly:
Spies Like Us
Dragnet
Sneakers
The Great Outdoors
He was also in Crossroads. That excellent Britney Spears joint.
Harold Ramis was also in Stripes with Bill Murry, That movie is hilarious.
I loved Spies Like Us, bad moments withstanding.
[Bird makes a noise in the woods.]
“That’s a dicpher.”
“What’s a dicpher?”
“To pee with.”
You didn’t mention him either. His real name is Comedy God… he only goes by “Harold Ramis” to seem to fit in with the mortals.
