Yeah, even worse, reading around it seems like this was one of those open secrets in the animation community. A lot of people apparently knew John K. was a shitty person and they all just turned a blind eye because he was the “untouchable” genius of Ren & Stimpy.

Serious question. You know how people say, the artist is not the art? Well does this change your enjoyment of his work?
Genuinely, yes, it does. If he were dead, maybe less so, but I am gonna have a hard time countenancing actively supporting him knowing what I do now. Dunno. This is still really fresh obviously.

To me, this is reminiscent of Louis CK. Just as his stand-up finds truth and humor in his male awfulness, there’s obviously something pretty deviant and perverse about Ren & Stimpy too. That’s why it’s great.
You know he made an adult episode (or short) of R&S? It was weird. Not surprised at all about the allegations.
So that is the mind that birthed Ren and Stimpy. I suppose that shouldn’t surprise anyone. :)

Larry Elder was one of the morning hosts when I was at ABC Radio a while back. Super Republican for sure. I imagine if they’re actually normal people and not GOP that Trey & Matt will probably correct the record soon.
Interesting piece by Molly Ringwald.
I liked it too, though I was hoping that Molly was going somewhere with her mother-daughter talks. I felt like her daughter rolled her eyes and left the essay at some point.
I rather enjoyed it as well. I liked that it wasn’t trying to land on any particular position or really prove a point, so much as examine a complicated issue from the perspective of someone who is honestly trying to work their way through it from their own broader, older perspective.
