Yeah the whole anonymous aspect is maddening.

I mean, it’s just funny, in a very sad kind of way. I remember reading about personality disorders. Generally speaking, they’re lifelong things. You do your best to treat them, mitigate them, and live a good life while having them. But you can still work on things, try to get better, try to see things in a different way.

But for narcissism, I recall reading that there’s in most cases no chance. Because the very nature of the disease prevents the person from ever being reflective enough to even consider getting better. Most things, from a psychology perspective, you have to actually want to work on in order to get better. Narcissism effectively prevents that.

I believe it even affects how therapists approach a suspected narcissist, because trying to treat them has to be so indirect and subtle. They tend to just drop out of therapy (or tune it out) at any challenge to themselves or their greatness.

It’s honestly very sad. They’re basically the perfect asshole who knows there is nothing wrong with them, it’s everyone else, so why would they need to get better?

I’m pretty sure not all narcissists are rapists though. There is obviously, I mean it’s not as if they would all behave the same. And did Weinstein get diagnosed?

Ick.

If he’s not paying anything to the accusers, what is the settlement about? Also, is a criminal case still pending?

Clearing his good name, of course! The money would be paid by the company’s insurers. Seems like quite a sweetheart deal for this piece of shit. He’s still in actual legal trouble so they probably ensured he wouldn’t have to admit guilt in order to make it easier for him to get off easier on the sexual assault charges. (IANAL)

The women are absolutely getting paid… or at least their lawyers are. It’s just that Weinstein himself will not have to pay out anything from his personal accounts. For this case, anyway. The article notes that he is expected to file for bankruptcy himself in the next few months, but I’m not certain why.

As I understand it, the lawsuits were against Weinstein, the board of directors of his company, and the company itself. The women’s lawyers determined (probably correctly) that they would be unlikely to prevail in suing a private citizen for workplace sexual harassment, but would be more likely to win a case by suing the place-of-business/employer of that person.

Thus, it is the business (and their insurance) that will have to pay the penalties. In theory, the Weinstein company could turn around and sue Weinstein himself to try and recoup some of that money, but given that everyone is filing for Chapter 11, that seems like a fool’s errand.

Yeah, since he is still being charged criminally, there is absolutely no way that he could have agreed to admit wrong-doing (also IANAL). If he had, then he’d basically being asking to be locked up longer.

Not all, of course, but there was a study of college men in 2016 that linked pathological narcissism to sexual assault and rape.

The “pathological” here is that the inflated self-esteem is accompanied by extreme insecurity and hostile attitudes towards women.

The degree to which DJT is a classic case is astonishing.

“I feel like the forgotten man,’’ the 67-year-old alleged rapist griped last week.

“I made more movies directed by women and about women than any filmmaker, and I’m talking about 30 years ago. I’m not talking about now when it’s vogue. I did it first! I pioneered it!” he bragged.

“It all got eviscerated because of what happened,’’ Weinstein said bitterly. “My work has been forgotten.’’

Dude has not fallen far enough. I am waiting to hear the splat!

What’s the point of doing a bunch of nice things for women if you can’t rape them?

meanwhile, on the left coast

A walker? Get the fuck outta here, Weinstein.

His lawyers decided the neck brace would be too much.

ef8ed61a-917f-4156-a8d0-b02cf616c6e5 hi

Edit:. Don’t know why it’s so tiny, but I’ll leave it

Oh yeah, gifs do that sometimes, not sure if it’s discourse scaling them down so the files aren’t too large, or what.

Gee, I feel so sorry for him.

Remember when he showed up suddenly at some club and got heckled by women who were appalled he was there like it was nothing… no mention of a walker then.
