I seriously doubt you’ve been reading qt3 for 5 years if you didn’t expect the response you got to the post you made.

Not to prove or disprove my 5 year claim but I have been around a while. I was a member of the GG site till Rich went AWOL and the site eventually shut down.

I lurked around OO for a while before deciding I didn’t want to be a part of that community. They are a decent bunch of people but it just wasn’t what I was looking for.

I started lurking here for a long time and and never felt the need to speak up. Finally on a whim before Christmas I was on here soaking up the Skyrim vibes with my son and he joked that I should sign up. I don’t have the street creds to be a regular poster but I have been playing and testing video games for a while. What better way to help make my favorite hobby better than to give some input to the very people who make them. Instead I’m in a thread about the old guard. Excuse my trespassing and I’ll move over to the interesting games threads.

I did get a boxed copy of Skyrim for Christmas so lurking can pay dividends.

Thank you Captain Obvious! I agree with your statement. To the Obvitoper! We have to stop Dr. Subtext.

Jack Black, considering this is your second inappropriate outburst in this thread, I don’t think it’s going to work out. And Nawid A, you might want to accept your own advice before offering it unsolicited to others.

Staff Sergeant, out of curiosity, what did Titan write that you feel deserved the response he got?

-Tom

Whether he deserved it or not is irrelevant. If you register on a board and as your 10th (or less, not sure) post you declare that it’s super easy to follow the community rules, a topic which there is a 50 page thread full of heated and emotional discussion about, you are going to receive an angry response.

I have no opinion* one way or the other on what he said, but the presentation was inviting “STFU noob” as a response.

*which is not to say I have no opinion on the subject, but rather that I don’t care to take a side in the drama because it’s pointless, much like jumping into a thread a week after it has died to declare that you think the rules are easy to follow and the people that got banned deserved it.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I disagree, though, and I hope folks will be a bit more patient with new posters, whatever the topic. You seem to be excusing “STFU noob” responses, which I’d rather we avoid.

The problem as I see it was Nawid coming in three days later with the “don’t comment on something you don’t know about” remark and then Jack’s OH PLEASE BITCH post. Neither of those responses is appropriate. Furthermore, both of those posters have had issues with moderation. As such, I don’t think they need to be grousing at new posters whose intentions are good, if also a bit clumsy.

-Tom

Et Tu, Brutus?

Dude, there’s no shame in being a bit clumsy on the internet! If I had a nickel for every time I was a bit clumsy, I’d probably be able to buy the actual internet.

 -Tom

And if you’ve save your nickles, I have an internet I’d love to sell you.

That had better not be the same Internet you sold me last week, Tim. It still hasn’t arrived in the mail.

Last week? You have to upgrade to Internet 2.0, now with a new whitener formula!

Levity! For a while I thought we killed it.

Tim, you forgot to include in my order all of the pop-up ads you promised that was part of the special deal you had going last week. I swear I called within 15 minutes.

Just what I’d expect a noob like you to say. Sheesh.

Yeah, everyone knows Levity was banned, like, months ago.

We don’t use banned anymore, Levity had his account closed.

Damn Levity was one of my favorite poster and he got his account closed.
I really think we need more posters like him, yes he was a bit snarky at times, and often just plain stupid. But more often than not he brought a smile to my face. I hope it is a temp ban and we will be seeing more of him in the future.

Perhaps Emoticon may even been allowed to post in the future.

I bought the Internet from Tim. Who knew that the Internet looks exactly like a box of phone books?

A picture of the Internet!

Emoticon is my favorite Transformer.

For some reason I was expecting tubes…lots and lots o’ tubes.
