Reminds me of when I was selling computers at Best Buy. I actually had a customer who wanted to download the entire internet onto her computer so she didn’t have to be online to read the internet when she wanted to.
When I worked at a computer shop, I had a customer ask me to cut the cost of a CD-ROM because she was only going to use it to look at words, and not music or pictures.
And certainly no porn! Trust me. Really.

Wen I was at the university, I made one mistake using wget, and accidentally mirrored Geocities, the whole site. The greatest thing in life is having all the bandwith of a university at 4:15 AM.
I use to browse the web using Eudora Light, with wget-emails like webpage@rumkin.com. I even participate in a webforum from my email, posting to the webget email address in a special form format, that in turn would post my post in the web forum.
Not having internet access never stoped me from participating in a web forum.

The internet doesn’t weigh anything!

Particularly with wikipedia being down today :)
Who’s JP Lucas, and why is he talking about League of Legends on the Qt3 front page without even gracing the forum thread with his presence?

He’s a violin maker from Salt Lake City, Utah.
I meant on the board, I thought at least that much was obvious but apparently your idiocy exceeded my expectations. That thread is going to die a fast death if people who are left here don’t even visit it (which would a shame since it has been the biggest topic going on these boards for quite some time).
Dominions 3 still holds the all time record for most discussion, and for views LoL isn’t even ranked as Elemental, Dom3, and Titan Quest hold the top three spots (ignoring the bargain thread and only looking at specific game discussion).
The LoL thread now is a pale shadow of it’s former self, which I believe was beating Dom3 for posts :)
-edit- Nvm, it was actually still a ways off (~3k). It was still closer then any other thread got though in a significantly shorter time and certainly far bigger then Elemental and TQ (and the new one was growing even faster). Still this is all just pedanticism over the fact that a hugely popular thread is now a ghost town, which is saddening.

I simply don’t believe in half-measures.
Hmmm. I don’t have time to read 53 pages of. . . whatever the hell it is that Qt3 invariably produces in these threads.
Hi, Tom. I like the idea that I might get to talk to you again. You’ve always been pretty chill directly toward me (given that we’ve only ever directly interacted twice, that’s not anything magical, but hey, whatevs).
On the other hand, the bannings make me sad. Since my activity comes in fits and spurts, I won’t feel the impact that other, more regular posters will, but I sort of wish that there was a forum with all the Qt3 people in it that wasn’t your backyard, because I don’t really like you or them more. I sort of like everyone equally. Except. . .
. . . I was going to make a joke and call someone I like and know an asshole. Except the people here that I like and think are nice don’t know who I am or know that I think they are nice. So they’d be offended if I made the joke, probably.
For what it’s worth, I was going to say Brian Rubin. He’s a really cool dude. I’d be sad if you banned him, too, Tom. So please don’t?
You will find the bannees and other Qt3 people over here: http://brokenforum.com/index.php
Bummer that Disqus doesn’t seem to support pingbacks/trackbacks; I posted my own thoughts on Genkibowl VII in response to Tom’s review on my blog (too long for a comment but I still wanted to say something) and it didn’t ever appear as a reaction.

23 petabytes? Your archive is out of date, sir. You better make a new backup pronto.
Also, an allegory of this thread (I dare you to resist for a whole single uninterrupted hour with a headset, if you start to drool you lose).
Not all Qt3ers, though. I for one haven’t time to track yet another forum.
