I wouldn’t start in the missions. Start in the big practice mode.

That’s a really nice list, and exactly what Game Pass is perfect for. I wouldn’t have bought most of those a la carte, but I’ll try out most of them, and likely stick with at least a few longer-term. And Tom certainly made Art of Rally sound pretty appealing.
This popped up in my news feed a few minutes ago. Same basic info as the link @divedivedive posted, but also has trailers for everything. I haven’t had time to watch any, but some of them sure sound wacky (Boyfriend Dungeon and Library of Ruina noted here). No release dates mentioned. Maybe in the videos.

I am going to play Skyrim for the first time ever on Gamepass PC (never playrd any in the series. I believe that no mods will work on Gamepass (that seems to be the consensus when I research it). Not sure if the lack of Mods will make a bust or not (Most people seen to say they would not play on PC without certain mods).
For a first time through any particular class to use? I lean more towards a fighter type than full blown magic user most games.
I had a lot of fun with it first time round with no mods whatsoever. Of course, that was a long time ago.
Make sure you play Skyrim SE, as that’s the newer version with the updated textures. And yeah, the default UI is rough. Inventory and magic is just a big categorized list. Think Mass Effect 1.
There are no classes, just skills. Most players tend to gravitate toward “stealth archer” because it’s so fun and a bit OP, but really anything will work.
There’s no mods on the PC GP version? Lame. You can even do them on consoles these days (though Playstation is much more limited in this regard than Xbox). My XSX setup looks sweet.
Skyrim in GamePass is the SE. I remember seeing buttons for mods in the launcher but never used it and game was fine although it crashed from time to time for me completely randomly.
You’re not locked to any particular class, but of course if you want the high level skills working on multiple things at once slows you down. I got pretty far using melee, archery and a bit magic - you get a skill point every level but you also have to level up your skills (by using them) before you can spend the point, and you can do a bit of everything without investing any skill points. If you follow the main quest it pretty much has you do everything once.
Only thing is it does like to seal you in boss rooms, and sometimes boss fights are significantly harder than things in the rest of the level so it’s a good idea to have some non-autosaves (although there are like last 3 autosaves at level transitions) if you happen to hit a boss that’s particularly tough.
So I’ve watched most of the videos on that page now, or at least the ones I haven’t seen before. I’m probably still looking forward to Dead Static Drive the most, but Craftopia WTF. I mean, sure, it’s a weird Mashup of Breath of the Wild and a farming/crafting/town building thing. Okay fine. But then there’s this in the middle of the trailer:
Maybe I should ask in a different thread, but I’m here now: is there an Xbox controller I can buy that will connect up to both an Android tablet and a PC? Bonus if it can control games on Steam Link too.
And how generally compatible are the Xbox controllers with non-Xbox games?
A regular Xbox controller can do that. The one for Xbox One or Xbox Series X or S. I have one that I tie to my phone or sometimes the Apple TV. And if I plug in a USB cord, it becomes a wired controller for the PC. If I wanted wireless, you can buy a little dongle thingie for your PC that costs about $20.
They’re very compatible with non-Xbox games. But I don’t have any experience with Steam Link since I don’t own one. But generally games on Steam usually correctly detect the Xbox controller and display tutorials and such with the correct controls.
Cool, thanks…I think I’m gonna go grab one today. $80, but if it connects with everything, worth it I guess.
Presumably they’re pretty rugged?
$80 seems expensive, I see them on Amazon right now for $50.
EDIT: Maybe you’re buying a wireless dongle with it or something to be getting that price?
Yeah it looks like it comes with a little grey dongle thing. I don’t have any kind of bluetooth on my PC, so I assumed I would need something like that.

Yep. Either dongle, BT or USB cable.
Just got back from Best Buy with the controller…Magic Legends was improved instantly. Looking forward to better Forza times now too.
I have to say I was surprised to be installing AA batteries in 2021, but I guess I can deal with it.
I recommend this:
Charger with 4 AA batteries. Two go in your controller, two go in the charger on the wall so they’re ready whenever you’re out. Then those two go in the charger on the wall.
In my experience, they last about 6-7 years (of heavy use), then they start losing their charge.
FWIW I bought an Xbox Series controller for my PC and I’m beyond frustrated with it. Bluetooth is such crap and my controller will not connect to my PC when I turn it on. I have to re-pair it EVERY time. I’m probably going to have to shell out for a PC adapter dongle for it or use it wired, both of which don’t have me very happy.
It reconnects just fine on my Nvidia Shield (which is Android based) so that should be OK for your tablet I think.
Do you sit especially far away from the PC? I use an Xbox One controller wired and it’s totally fine.
Bluetooth isn’t the greatest, true, but I’m sitting about 10-12 ft from the computer and it’s pairing up just fine.
'Course I did shell out for the special dongle thingamabob, so maybe that’s the difference.
