It’s the engineering of tiny little robots to be injected into bodies to fight diseases, right?

Right?

Please.

Stranger Things 3: The Game (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Blair Witch is cool. I really enjoyed half my time with that.

@Kolbex - Sorry about that. I was distracted while typing it.

No problem! Thanks for drawing my attention to the game.

My boss at the time was playing Myst when it came out, and I remember him talking about struggling with one particular puzzle and he didn’t know what he was missing. It turned out to be one of the musical based ones, and he was partially deaf (he wore a hearing aid, but also relied to some degree on lip reading) so he didn’t realize there was music he was meant to be hearing.

Trying to catch up on games since I got a new gaming laptop a few months ago and I am overwhelmed by how many choices I have on Steam. With the release of Humankind, I am finally cashing in my free 1 month with PC Game Sass. Now I’m hyper-overwhelmed.

HA. I’ll just leave it. :)

You can now pre-install Forza Horizon 5 on Gamepass so that you’re ready for its release on… [checks notes]… November 9th.

I fucking hate having free hard drive space!

Having free storage space totally bites: It is known.

Ooooh Twelve Minutes will be on Game Pass tomorrow.

Awesome! That looks interesting and the reviews have been pretty solid too.

There’s a cool little metroidvania up called Recompile.

It’s got Daisy Ridley and Willem Defoe on the voice cast. Some heavy hitting behind it. And it’s a time loop game; my favorite genre.

Looking for some guidance for those of you who handle Xbox, GamePass and families.

Right now we have a single Xbox with my Xbox Gold account and GamePass Ultimate.

My kids are reaching an age where I would like to put a TV in another room and setup a second xbox that they can use.

Does this require a second gold subscription and a second gamepass subscription if we want to be using the systems at the same time? I’ve looked into the ‘home xbox’ and the like, but frankly it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

How have others solved this?

If you have two Xbox consoles total, then the one that the kids will use should be designated as the Home Xbox. That allows any account – yours plus theirs – to play any games installed on the console even when offline.

Then the console you primarily play on will require you to actively sign in / be online to verify it’s you, but you can play your games on Xbox even at the same time as your kids playing a game on the “Home Xbox.” Even when there is only one active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

It’s when you introduce a third console that things get a bit tricky. But when I had just two consoles, the kids console being the Home Xbox and me using my console in the family room by signing in all the time worked just fine – and we were able to play online games / co-op together too.

Thierry has it right. MS lets you pick a “home” system for an account that holds a license for your games and allows for online play. This allows others who sign on to that system to play those games as well, whether your account is active or not. You can also sign into any Xbox and play your licensed games without regard as to who is on your home Xbox. My boys pushed the limits of those licensing limitations.

Further, if your account is signed on to an Xbox (doesn’t even need to be assigned to a controller), anyone else signed in on that system can play your account’s licensed games or play online. However, your sign-in alone can only allow one piece of game software at a time to run on any Xbox console. Trying to launch one on another Xbox when someone else is playing will result in a “do you want to kick the other player off” message. This limit does not apply to using the dashboard or most apps. So, you can be signed in to watch Netflix on one Xbox and play a game on another Xbox using the same account, that’s not considered a conflict.

And if all of the Xboxes are busy in the house and your account is being used on one of them, you can still play XGPU games with Xbox Live functionality on a PC without any conflicts. Or play on a 360. Plus, if I recall correctly, FTP games like Fortnite no longer require Gold for online play.

Awesome - my wallet thanks you both.

(Digression: Matt, if you’re really into this (very small) genre, I thought I should see if you are aware of Pocket Watch, from sokpop. They’re a studio that makes lots of little games, but Pocket Watch is one of their more robust projects, and a pretty great time loop game.)

Yeah, I picked that one up from an itch.io bundle a week or so ago, but haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.
