Ah, I read that wrong initially. Thought it said Ubsioft+ coming to Gamepass, not Ubisoft+ coming to Xbox. That makes more sense then.

Nitpick - it’s going to be a separate sub accessible on Xbox, like EA Play currently is. No relation to Game Pass at all.

(EA Play was later added to GP Ultimate, but it’s still separately available on Xbox outside of Game Pass)

EA Play Peon does give you up to ten hours with new games. A lot of people used Peon Tier to play Battlefield 2042 on Xbox Series consoles before buying (or not).

I believe that’s only in the pre-launch period, but I’ve never actually tried it out myself.

No, I think it’s a standard trial thing. Remember, that’s also a paid service unless you have Game Pass. Pro (which I subscribe to on PC) is where you get access to everything and costs more.

Coming to Gamepass

Ahh, well their page explaining it isn’t very clear then!

Drinkbox are awesome, but this is a classic “game-coming-to-gamepass-I-will-wait-to-play-on-Switch” situation.

The default FOV is 60, which usually makes me sick. You can turn it up a lot higher than that in the settings. Try it out

Re: your nausea, does the game have an FoV slider? If so, crank it up to at least 90 degrees. I picked up Horizon Zero Dawn (Windows) from the Epic store recently and the default FoV was, as the Brits say, “pants,” so I started getting queasy (I’m also “of a certain age”).

The first time I got this really bad was playing Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition on the PC. I’d played the previous version near release (2012?) with nary a problem, but about three years ago I played the DE and after a bit I had a headache and mild nausea. Unfortunately that game didn’t come with an FoV slider.

EDIT: Ninja’d by arrendek!

Hrm, good suggestions, thanks. I usually crank up the FoV but I didn’t notice it for these games.

Leaving list update:

  • Desperados 3 (PC/Cloud/Xbox)
  • Ghost of a Tale (PC)
  • Little Acre (Cloud/Xbox)
  • Kingdom Hearts 3 (Xbox)
  • Mount and Blade Warband (PC/Cloud/Xbox)
  • Pandemic (PC/Xbox)
  • PUBG (Cloud/Xbox)
  • YIIK (PC)

Best start now if anyone wanted to get through KH3.

Ghost of a Tale and Desperados 3 are both brilliant so far. I think Desperados 3 will have to wait for another day, as I’ll try to make some serious progress in Ghost of a Tale in the next few days, I’m really digging it. I love that it’s a stealth game where you’re a mouse hiding from rats.

Just that change from humans to animals completely changes expectations. If a human guard saw a guy go around the corner and then looked around and didn’t see anyone, then went back to his route, I’d think how stupid that was. But when a Rat guard does it? I don’t know, it feels like it fits. Rats. Am I right guys? Come on.

I don’t know. Rats have a keen sense of smell and can even use minor changes in chemical concentration per nostril to smell in stereo, i.e. detect the direction of a smell without moving their head. I feel like they’d notice an intruder’s presence way more easily than a human would.

Little known fact about Rat Guards. You know that heavy armor they wear? They really douse it with cologne. They can’t smell shit outside their own clothes.

no-prize

Yeah, I started Desperados 3 when they announced it was leaving, and am wishing I had done so earlier. Never played anything in this genre before, but I’m having a great time looking and prodding at these clockwork arrangements of guards to find the right weak spots to pick them apart from.

Just got the fifth character. Not sure how much more of the game there is, but I’m hoping to get through it before it leaves Game Pass.

So, real talk about Game Pass Ultimate: has anyone reading these words have either first hand experience or know people who themselves* let their subscription lapse, then managed to convert more Xbox Live months to Game Pass for $15 for all of it? Mine runs out in April, I think. I’ve set it to not auto-renew.

*(not their girlfriend’s cousin’s brother’s co-worker or whatever)

Sure. I’ve done it myself. Worked fine.

Yep, I’ve done it too.
