It’s tomorrow from everything I’ve seen. Not sure where you’re seeing Monday.
Sorry, I should have specified: in the PC Xbox app in the “Coming to Game Pass” section, alongside titles like Age of Mythology Retold and Frostpunk 2 etc. If you click on it, on the resulting page it does indeed show a release date of 9/3, though.
Leaving soon:
- Ashes of the Singularity
- Fifa 23
- Payday 3
- Slime Rancher 2 (still early access)
- Spiderheck
- You suck at parking
The parking game was fun. 3 hours was enough to finish most of it, skipping the worst levels.
Star Trucker unlock time:
07:00 PT / 14:00 GMT / 15:00 BST / 16:00 CEST
Expeditions, the new mudrunner game, is coming to game pass, as is the newer games by the Steep developers at Ubisoft, and the newest train sim world.
I’ll be installing Star Trucker tonight. See you in space!
Well, i installed Star Trucker and managed to get docked to the station, but I opted out of the “accept first job” screen because I wanted to figure out how to replace the power cell for the artificial gravity, which the game had warned me about, but once I’d done that I couldn’t seem to accept the first offered job anymore. I’m using the controller, highlight it and press A but the “Accept first job” thing doesn’t get checked off, even though when I hit that A button I hear audible feedback.
It seems that I can’t progress without going back to an earlier save. Maybe the tutorial doesn’t like it when you don’t do things in order. I can’t believe the dev didn’t account for people doing that.
If you’re docked at the place where you pick up the jobs, you should be able to get out of your seat and be able to interact with the airlock to bring up the interface for wherever you are docked.
Interesting. I tried that at the place I delivered the original package to but it wouldn’t let me do it there, so I loaded an earlier save and accepted the job when it was offered. Then I went to the place where you pick up the cargo but I went to the vendor first to unload a thing and buy another. I then switched out the battery that was failing but now I know how to bring up the store interface again.
Hmm, well, it didn’t work for the store for some reason. As far as I can tell it’s a one and done thing every time you dock. If you forget to buy/sell something maybe you have to undock and redock, unless I’m missing something.
Nooo not spiderheck! Gamepass losing its best game.
Yeah, my nephew will be devastated at Spiderheck leaving.
For those wondering about Star Trucker, be aware that there is no way to make the craft strafe up/down/left/right (something that the seminal Descent figured out how to do thirty years ago). This causes the “backing up to hitch to trailer” thing very awkward. I’d also recommend playing on easy/custom difficulty unless you want to swap batteries out constantly.
BTW supposedly the answer to my question above about returning to the store/job/whatever interface while docked is that one has to click on the closed airlock door. Not terribly intuitive and you’d think the tutorial would tell you this. I have yet to test it but @TheToxicWaltz apparently did per his post above.
Ooh, good to know, thanks.
I’m pretty sure this is very deliberate, because trucks don’t have lateral thrusters. It’s also less awkward than it might be, because the docking camera makes fine control while reversing pretty easy, at least when you don’t have a trailer attached - push up to make the crosshair go up, push left to make it go left, etc. And to a large extent the gameplay of truck sim games is all about trying to get the hang of backing up with trailers.
My gal and I also play a lot of spiderheck with her kids. Looks like I’ll have to put it on the wishlist for a good sale.
Weird that an EA game is leaving (SR2). Is it out approaching full release?
