That… is bullshit. This was a mistake.
That is my understanding, you can add up to 36 months. Not sure what happens if you have more than that.
Also, for anyone with a Costco membership, you can pick up a 2 year Xbox Live Gold Membership code for $95. That will save another $25 or so.

What about 36 months plus 1x3 (renewal) for 39 months?

I do digital codes from them all the time. I only had one time that it took awhile and it was when I ordered more than one card in succession. That seemed to trip some sort of internal check.
Edit: I just bought two 12 month cards. Right after the purchase there was a digital library link that popped up under “thanks for the purchase”. I clicked it, clicked refresh on the new page, and my codes were there.
So the website says anything over 36 months just goes away and is no longer on your account.

Well. Oops. You cannot do 12 months +1 three times. It won’t let me load the last 12 months because I already have 26 months (24+2). So…I am not sure what to do about the last 12 months. Can I even use the 12 Months of gold later to extend the PC game pass? Was that a $60 oops?
You can. The conversion rate will be different.
From the MS FAQ here:
https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/gold/upgrade
After you join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can continue to redeem Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass codes. These codes will automatically convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a ratio based on the ERP (Estimated Retail Price) of those codes. Conversion ratio subject to change.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I was able to buy 2 12-month cards and now have 2 years of ultimate all setup.

Yep, just got off chat with Amazon “customer service.” Their response: shrug. Last time I buy digital codes from Amazon.
Just watch. Microsoft will close their deal off and I’ll be stuck holding a 2 year sub for a service I don’t even have the console for.

I’ve usually bought mine through Amazon since I can use the cash-back on my credit cards to pay for it. I usually get codes almost instantly in my digital codes library. Within a minute.
Can you cancel the order? I had issues with amazon as well and ended up going someplace else.

Hmmm. So the $60 now to try to get $5 per month of PC game pass (I don’t own or plan to own an Xbox again) is worth 4 months of Ultimate? That won’t even be the $10 per month after the increase. I guess I saved on 26 months and lost on the last 12 (to be converted later) due to the +1 “bonus”.
Note to others: Don’t go for the 36 months. Aim at 24. Or at least don’t do the +1 bonus (not confirmed to work).
That sucks. So, you ended up with 30 months for $180? $6/month?

Yeah, I’m the same way. There are specific games I want to play, and I also really appreciate variety and exploration. The crazy thing is that I’m pretty sure Game Pass has justified its subscription cost for me just in terms of games that I was already excited about and probably would have bought anyway.
But everything else on the service is a massive value-add to me. I would never buy a game based on just a first impression or a casual recommendation from someone – I’d end up researching and reading reviews and watching some videos and such. But with this model, I can just jump in and see how it goes without further research.

Having the same issue. Status shows pending
Amazon fraud gets nervous about digital purchases. They seem to be especially cautious lately in my experience.
If you check the actual order, it may show as canceled. In that case you can go and purchase again or go elsewhere safely.
If it has been less than 24 hours Amazon Customer Service will tell you to wait. You can request cancellation.
If you want the cards digitally you can get them at Target as well. Target Red Card gives the same 5% off Amazon does with the Prime Store card.
For anyone wanting Game Pass Ultimate who doesn’t qualify for the $1 thing anymore…
@Matt_W
Finally went through. I now have ultimate through The and of 2022.
FWIW, think I did mine before you, so hopefully soon
