At $10 I’ll bail, but may join up periodically if they get some big release I really want to play. Mostly one and done type games. I need to see if they have any other games I really want to play before I expire in November.

10 bucks? I’m out. Not enough games I’ll play for that amount. And I don’t like the practice of games leaving. How long before Flight Simulator vanishes?
That would be never. First party games don’t leave.
FYI, they haven’t increased the cost of getting the free month through the reward points. At least not yet.

I went through and looked at the games I think may be worth playing. Some I’m not sure. Which ones do you think are worth the time? I may ask some questions in the game specific threads too.
Wasteland 3: My most interested one, but it seems like some bugs are still being ironed out? Should I wait?
Phoenix Point: I played at release and thought it was OK, but it sounds like it has improved. Worth jumping in again?
The Surge 2 I thought the first one was OK. Anything about 2 that would elevate it over the first?
State of Decay 2: I enjoyed the first one quite a bit but I think people weren’t as fond of the second?
Plebby Quest: Description sounds promising.
Are any of the below games worth it, playing only solo? I don’t know a lot about them. Never played a Gears game other than Tactics (which was good). I know these are shooters and I do like a good shooter. I think I played the first Halo on XBox and thought it was decent.
Gears 5, Gears of War 4, Gears of War Ultimate Edition
Halo games
Mud Runner
No Mans Sky
Wolfenstein Youngblood
I’ve already played these games.
Hollow Knight
Lonely Mountains Downhill
Forza Horizon 4
Gears Tactics
Crusader Kings
Outer Worlds
Metro Exodus
Age of Empires 1,2,3 Definitive Edition

I’m having a good time with both Wasteland 3 and Phoenix Point but I haven’t made it too far into either.
After about an hour, I’m finding The Surge 2 isn’t grabbing me like the first game did. I’m not a fan of using a parry in just about any title and TS2 has a direction-based parrying mechanic that really doesn’t suit me. I’m bummed. Really loved the original.
The Gears and Halo games are perfect Game Pass fodder. I love having those installed… like gaming comfort food I can return to whenever I’m in the mood.

Out of those, I played through Gears of War Ultimate last year. I was very pleasantly surprised. I’d played through the first couple of levels back on the Xbox 360 and thought it was a fairly boring 3rd person shooter and didn’t understand the appeal. But this time I kept playing those first few boring levels, and I found a lot of variety in its level design. It’s definitely much more interesting than the first couple of levels let on.
I highly recommend Halo 3: ODST. It’s coming to PC on Tuesday, so I’m assuming that they recreate the 360 experience or improve upon it, and don’t screw up the sound or something like they did with Halo Reach on PC.
I’m having such a good time with Wasteland 3 so far. I ran into one big bug so far, but was able to go to an older saved game and avoided doing the same thing. There’s been a couple of other instances where the game just kind of froze on me, and my solution was just to avoid that fight for now. I’ll try going back there later to see if it’s reproducable. But bugs or not, I’m having a blast.
No Man’s Sky is a game I loved at launch, but last time I tried playing, they have made it so complicated. Now you have something you put on the ground to combine ingredients and you do base building and other stuff, and it’s all very complicated. I couldn’t get into the new version. Meanwhile it seems like they haven’t improved the things I actually wanted them to improve, like the feel of the combat.

My guts tells me to start with Wasteland 3. I just hope bugs don’t ruin the experience. I don’t have a high tolerance for needing to replay sections due to bugs, but other than that I’ve heard great things.
I really enjoyed Surge 2. The environments are definitely better than the first. I don’t feel like it was easier but I never got frustrated at any bosses that I can recall like in Surge 1 (Black Cerebus I’m looking at you).

State of Decay 2 is superb, and if you’re on a time limit with gamepass it may be too much, as there is just so much game there.
Lots of different ways to play too, including a storyline-based mode.

The main complaint about SoD2 was that it was identical janky tech to the first game. People expected some refinement they didn’t get. Or that’s what I remember.

Yeah, I got it a few months after release so it may not have been as bad, but you can’t ignore the presence of an Unstick Me button :D
That said, I think multiplayer was the main source of jank; I had few issues with the single player. It didn’t initially seem that different from the first one, but it did differentiate itself as you played more. I went back to the first one afterwards and couldn’t stomach it.
Wasteland 3 is one of the better games I’ve played this year. I haven’t hit any bugs.
I also played Phoenix Point when it was released and thought it was ok. I tried it again a couple weeks ago and it was improved, but not enough to pull me away from other games.
I tried Surge 2 but it wasn’t for me.
State of Decay 2 was solid. If you liked 1, you will like 2.
I was starting to get into Plebby Quest when CK3 dropped, so I haven’t been back. I enjoyed what time I spent with it though.
Of the others, I really enjoy No Mans Sky. My experience is the opposite of Rock8man. When I played at launch, I thought it was missing features and seemed scaled down too much. Adding in all the other stuff has made it a more full featured game for me.
Gamepass is up to 15 million subs from 10 million in April.

So the $5 deal is over, did everyone lock in a few months of time? Seeing that 15 million subscriber number , tells me yes.
- Subscribing monthly.
- Subbed for 3+ months.
- Subbed for 6+ months.
- Subbed for 12+ months.
- Subbed for 18+ months.
- Subbed for 24+ months.
- Subbed for max 36 months.
I got in for 15 months. And honestly, I don’t mind paying $10/mo once that ends.
Hell, with EA and Bethesda games thrown in, I’d pay $15/mo without much complaint. I paid that for WoW for longer than I care to admit.

Bing clickers also not represented! I suppose they’re subscribing monthly.

I’m still coasting on the two years or so I bought from the initial $1 Ultimate trial + time add promo. I don’t play many games on here but it was a couple bucks a month up front so sure, why not. When that runs out I’d probably switch to PC only or wait until some deals on Ultimate pop up.
