The Girl in the Spider's Web - Claire Foy, no Larsson

This is the solution Sony went for? Just skip the rest of Larsson’s books and go straight to the first one written by someone else?

Man, three actresses playing Lizbeth Salander in 5 movies. She’s the new Batman/Bond I guess.

Awww, I got excited for a second, thinking this was going to be a David Fincher movie again. But on the other hand, it looks like the movie Fincher is working on is World War Z 2? Wow, looking forward to that one now.

Oh my god, you have no idea how on the money that comment was! We saw this a couple days ago, and the character isn’t just regenerating like Bond—this is a straight up Bond movie.

By that I mean that it isn’t a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie. Or it is, but it has completely switched genres like going from Alien to Aliens. This is no longer an exploitation revenge movie disguised as a mystery thriller. It’s a Bond movie every bit as much as Galaxy Quest is a Star Trek movie. There’s the supervillain with an evil plot, the crazy gadgets, the fancy sports car, and she’s the super spy. Hell, they even took a bit from Skyfall where the guy takes his facial prosthetic off.

Now it’s probably not as good as the original Dragon Tattoo movie, but that’s kind of irrelevant because it’s a perfectly good Bond movie. I’d say I enjoyed it more than most of those! The fact that Lisbeth is also a more interesting character than Bond certainly doesn’t hurt either. I’d definitely be excited if the next Dragon Tattoo movie had the budget & creative team from Skyfall or Casino Royale.
