The Good German

Saw this today and I have to say that I really liked it but I can see why some people were turned off by the flick.

I think it might help that going in you know The Good German is an experimental film of sorts, but because it’s also so clearly a narrative film, I feel like the experiment gets in the way.

Personally, I don’t think the how of a film should take precedence over the why, but it clearly does in this one. The actual filmmaking is so overt that it’s hard not to notice it every step of the way. That being said, I don’t think it really adds much of anything, which is a shame in a way because the movie itself is actually quite interesting.
