Conaway is âmyâ rep, and my district is crazy. He reminds me more of a socially connected guy who would be equally at home as a county judge.
I give him credit in that he tends to not want to say outright nutty things, and heâs acted pretty embarrassed by the current GOP. Of course he goes along with it just like all Republicans today. He holds tons of âtown hallsâ all over his district in the smallest of towns (basically one horse towns with a Post Office and school) - sometimes to the point where it almost seems like heâs avoiding the larger towns.
But iâll never forget being on a conference call âtown hallâ with him and all the people on the line all but pounding their desks screaming about conspiracies against Trump they heard from FOX or some talking AM head, completely indifferent to what Conaway had actually done âfor themâ IRL. I feel like guys like him feel like their duty is to represent their district as it is - and his district is batnut crazy.
But he doesnât seem like the sort to go work for FOX. Heâs far, far more likely (imo) to get some kind of job with Pioneer or Concho or the Scharboroughs or work with the Abel-Hangers then blowhard on TV. Heâs got plenty of connections to make more than enough money, and the West Texas way to make money generally stays off the radar.
