A) Let’s not forget the complicity of the Nicholses and Wilsons of the world in the current state of fuckery we find ourselves in. How did they feel about Bolton and the rest of the neocons 20 years ago? Fuck them.
B) I have very little time indeed for “all this malfeasance by the GOP is the Democrats’ fault for not arresting them!” Fuck you. The fact that Democrat-controlled House committees aren’t using experimental legal powers that may or may not exist to compel testimony by felons being sheltered by the GOP is a drip in the god damned ocean of serial rapists being installed on the supreme court in defiance of all norms. Also: literally everything else of the last 2.5 years.
Fuck them. They want to restore sanity to our country before the National Razor fucking does it for them? Maybe do something besides broadcast their latest case of the vapors on Twitter.

This is a constitutionally granted power of Congress.
What should they do, Adam? Support Democrats being elected? They already do that.

Sure, fuck them. I don’t think they’re wrong here, though.
Every time the contempt thing comes up (and this same discussion has come up on QT3 over and over again and gets relitigatd to exhaustion…), it seems like it’s worth going back to say…a con law teacher who’s obviously a democrat to teach you a bit about what congress can do with their contempt power.
[TLDL: fuck all.]
This even covers the same material @Strollen did about the MacCracken story.
Or if you want, just go to the trump thread when we did this in april. Trump/Russia 2016 election investigation (continued)
Yes, it’s deja vu all over again.
Another thing the House Dems could at least try.

He pushed for pot legalization, so I assume he’s just your standard Libertarian.
“Legal pot, legal child sex, legal discrimination! WOOOOOO!”
I wonder what percent of Libtertarians just have one very specific illegal thing that they want to do, and generalize from there.
Hey, I hear we are paying for a lot of well-used detention centers in southern states. Why not just plop him into one of those for a few weeks.

That’s pretty funny. I can’t imagine paying anything to avoid getting thoughts/prayers from someone. Since they’re 100% useless, I’d be willing to pay $0 to both get or avoid them.
Being atheist isn’t cost-less in America in general. It can be a reminder of the stresses that puts onto you in general society, at a time when you don’t want to have any more stress. Also, when somebody says they’re praying for you, there’s kind of a social contract where you’re supposed to be grateful. Avoiding that unwelcome social expectation (i.e. you don’t need to pretend to be grateful when you’re not) has some value.

It’s amazing to me that Kobach is so toxic that he can’t even come close to beating a Democrat in Kansas. I guess there are limits for some people.
That’s really bizarre stuff to read, but it actually makes some sense when I think about it; people who don’t believe in an interventionist god may rightly resent the “efforts” because they’ll see them as ways of shirking the responsibilities of caring for one’s fellow human beings. For people who do believe in an interventionist god, getting “thoughts and prayers” from someone they know doesn’t believe means that person has already expressed their disbelief and therefore it could be taken as an even more blatant slight; “Hey, I know this won’t do anything for you, so thrppppt!”
disclaimer: I’m a deist, but I try not to be a jackass about it, lol

Speaking of prayers not working…
Well, at least one politician is waking up to reality
