Even if the Secret Service insisted on a motorcade Pence could have simply visited elsewhere in Michigan and avoided the bad look he created. Don’t plan it if the plan has to include something that is forbidden at the location.

He could have gone to Holland, MI, a lovely lake town that has the misfortune of also being the seat of the evil DeVos family. The Queen of Darkness herself could have greeted him!

Exactly. The Democrats need to do their job. If Moscow Mitch wants to protect his comrade, he can own it and deal with whatever fallout comes from that.

Besides, there’s value in an impeachment inquiry. The information they uncover may sway some of the voting public, especially if the economy continues teetering.

No, the President of the Senate (which would be the VP) would normally preside. In the case of impeachment of the President, it’s POSSIBLE that the President Pro Tempore would preside. That would be Chuck Grassley.

However, in terms of presenting the case against Trump, the prosecution is handled by the House. They present the case for impeachment to the Senate.
