Douche bag. This guy truly represents the GOP well.
The GOP well is a very, very deep well.

I would argue “privilege” and “family wealth” are synonymous. That way you can apply it almost universally. For instance, Brahmins in India, the House of Saud in SA, etc. Both of those groups are pretty conservative.
He’s pleading guilty for The Kids. What a dad!
This may be true of the traditional / colloquial use of privilege. It isn’t true of the current, more prevalent academic / political usage.

Privilege is meant to implicate any feature of identity that tends to confer unearned cultural advantage over groups without that feature. So sure, family wealth is one. So is, in America, being white, being male, and being non-native born, which is why we have federal civil rights laws requiring commercial and occupational non-discrimination wrt gender, race and national origin. Straightness also tends to confer advantage, which is why many states also have laws protecting sexual orientation from discriminatory practice.
But the cultural advantages extend beyond the commercial and occupational realms. White defendants are less likely to be arrested, tried, convicted, receive longer sentencing, and be denied parole than black defendants for the same crime. Un-incarcerated men are far less likely to be raped than women. Etc.
I don’t think abashed means what they think it means.
This sort of shit pisses me off so much. Like, if you’re going to be literalist about it, at least read the whole book. There are multiple covenants after the creation - you can’t say God wanted it one way from the start if you believe the Bible is inerrant. Hell, there’s a new covenant in Genesis itself, let alone Exodus/Deuteronomy, the Gospels, the Pauline books etc.

yep yep yep. These people are false prophets ie. false teachers. They are quite literally what many of the books railed against including Jesus himself.
I keep coming to the same facts when thinking about these people. They don’t really believe in God nor anything they preach. If they did, they’d recognize they’re on a fast track to hell.

I know of basically no Christians who take Matthew 5:38-40 to heart.
Heck, I’m guilty of it myself. It’s one of the hardest teachings to internalize, imo.
Which is why I have such high respect for Quakers and to some extent Mennonites and the Amish.
You don’t even have to leave Genesis. “Which of the two versions of creation in Genesis do you believe to be the correct one?”
I try to, but it is so hard.
Also, practicing forgiveness 7x7x7 times is hard.

Just found it amusing to see who else had chaired it for the GOP in the past.
