This American Life recently did a show about the changes to refugee handling at the border, and the experiences and hardships of assylum seekers. I held out in listening for a few weeks because I knew it would make me angry and sad.

Only been in one scuffle you could call anything like a fight, where I did some kicking only (after the kid sucker punched me). I was like 12, the other kid ran away.

And there was the time my friend said, let’s try boxing! And he gave me gloves and we went out to meet each other in the middle after a second. Then he punched me in the nose, which immediately started bleeding. And I said, ok, that’s good. And that was that.

I’d still have a lot of trouble not hitting that guy with everything I have.
