The Limbaugh family. The GF’s dad and uncle started a business in Cape Giradeau, MO after WWII where the Limbaugh family seat was. They made bricks and used them to build houses. They were veterans and they hired all veterans to work for them.
They were quite successful and many of the houses they built are still standing today. But, they were taking away business from the Limbaughs so the Limbaughs were able to catch them on some violation and sued and put them out of business. Both of them didn’t have more than a high school education, and the GFs dad never finished high school.
Were they in the wrong? Probably, but it was an innocent mistake, and what galls me is the Limbaughs, champions of keeping government off our backs, were all to eager to use government to shut down a competitor that was providing jobs for veterans and building good houses people wanted to live in.
Bah. The GFs dad went on to have four kids. One went to West Point. One went to the Air Force Academy. The two girls got degrees. All have been successful in life. He did a good job.
