Yes, there’s a really dark alternative way of interpreting this. Burr wasn’t loyal enough to Trump in backing up his claims that Russia really helped Clinton or whatever, and this is real deal autocrat territory.

Yeah, it’s Al Capone at dinner with the lesser capos, caving in the head of one with a baseball bat. Better keep in line or you’re next.

If Barr is willing to be a hitman, it’s pretty fucking chilling what he could do. Maybe DJT has pics of him with underage kids or something, supplied by Putin. There’s no telling what Russian intelligence has on our politicians. They want stuff on everyone, not just Democrats.

Ok, I’m in wild conspiracy theory land now, but it’s not like the current administration hasn’t shoved me there. Nothing is beyond them. Only their built-in incompetency keeps them from even more evil.

I don’t think DJT has anything on Barr, it’s just that Barr is completely corrupt. This was obvious in his confirmation hearing, and any legit republic would have rejected his nomination.

But we live in a bona fide banana republic.

If you’re gonna be a Trumper, you’d better be in up to your ears. And that won’t save you, either.

FTFY

Barr was the guy during Iran Contra who came up with the “why don’t we just pardon everyone” strategy. He’s be brazenly covering up Republican crimes for a long time.

Wow. Now let’s see if the Feds actually find something on that phone, or if the investigation kinda just goes away.

Will Barr really burn Burr, or will this quietly go away once Burr changes his tune about Russian interference and is brought under heel?

It’s a fair question, and that it even needs to be seriously asked illustrates that we are a banana republic.

I think viewing this as Burr vs Trump isn’t quite the right dynamic. My personal gut feel is that this is more of a case of the senate wanting to protect their image. A lot of those senators are long time republicans that predate Trumpism and probably expect to still be around when the Trumpist fad has passed. Plus giving Burr a pass would mean they couldn’t investigate Feinstein as well.

I suspect this is all playing out as the senate republicans desire.

In terms of actual outcomes I’ll hazard a guess on Burr resigns from the senate and then the charges are reduced/dropped.

Then can always come up with a bullshit reason for why it’s fine to do this to a Democrat but unholy to do it a Republican.

Who’s next up for the chairmanship, Cornyn?

The lack of investigation for Kelly Loeffler speaks to selective prosecution. What’s the most relevant difference between the two?

It’ll forever remain a mystery.

But don’t worry, DJT will shit on her face, too, when the time comes.

1 girl,1 Trump.
