It makes me sad that you’re sad, because imagining a sad tortilla seems really… sad.

Fair game is just that, fair game

it means what it means, scientology besides.

If you mean fair game in the sense of “acceptable to criticize” then no arguments from me. I’m far more troubled by the statement:

I sincerely hope that was just hyperbole that I mistakenly took at face value.

The Jesus Tortilla:

Cher wept

Which has been my main concern about Biden. I fear that if he wins with both Houses, he will be the Biden who said “I’ve worked with segregationists” rather than the “We don’t TORTURE!” Biden.

I just don’t know in my bones that he understands what the GOP has become. He absolutely needs to grok it.

His online campaign seems very much the same as Hillary’s so far, which was a loser for the entire Country - but, the attempt to defeat Trump with his own words may be more effective this time after 4 years of his stupidity and hatred and ignorance. I’m not sold however.

We are going to continue seeing more of this sort of thing as the GOP has made a decision to entrench into white nationalism instead of expanding their tent. Demographics are against them so the only way to maintain power is to undermine democracy and disenfranchise voters. I don’t remember what thread it was that @Ryan_Kelly and others were talking about how sound our democracy is but this is the exact sort of thing that to me shows that it is in peril. And i’m not at all surprised Kemp is doing it, as his voter purge may have stolen the election for him to begin with.

I’m not saying our democracy has reached a fail state yet but to me it’s clearly under threat and something we’re going to have to fight hard to defend.

Of course im not going to have any moral, ethical or legal barriers in my fight against the far right, racists, supremacists, fascists and nazis. They have/seek control the judicary and legal system too. Their endgame is my and my families deaths or deportation. You think this is a game? Minorities arent going to quietly queue for the trains to the Death Camps again. It us or them, as Armando said, Total Fucking War. If i can get away with it, im going to do it. The only thing I wont risk is being caught. Thats further down the line, when the insurgency kicks off. Right now its civil disobedience and direct action without physical violence.

Not at all surprising, as the GOP has recognized that their numbers are shrinking since even before Trump’s improbable win, so subversion of the process is the only viable strategy to hang on to power. They got away with gerrymandering for a long time, but now they’re graduating to the next level and simply bypassing elections altogether.

Trump’s Presidency has fucked over America in a myriad of ways, but one of the least talked about is how the GOP has used Trump’s frequent noisy distractions to quietly set the stage for this sort of thing all over the country. GOP led statehouses have passed legislation to disenfranchise voters, GOP governors have appointed cronies to powerful positions, and the GOP has placed dozens of judges at both the Federal and State levels in positions where, when the eventual lawsuits are filed over stuff like this, they can simply dismiss cases or refuse to hear appeals of lower court rulings.

Democracy has always been meant to be a numbers game, majority rules. The GOP have spent a whole lot of time, money and effort changing the political, electoral and judicial landscape so that the minority can continue to rule. They have quietly stolen Democracy from us, and even if we have the numbers to attempt to take it back, we may no longer have the opportunity. This is why November is so important. We don’t just need a new President, we need a new Senate, new State governments…hell, the entire down ballot all the way to dog catcher.

I have to admit I’m absolutely shocked.

It wasn’t very on-topic for that thread, it probably should have been in this one from the start :)

As the Vox article notes, “The court’s decision in Barrow turns upon poorly drafted language in the state constitution, which does suggest that Blackwell, Kemp, and Raffensperger’s scheme was legal.” It seems like it was a scummy loophole tactic.

My main point, though, was that our democracy has not ended yet, so we Americans should continue to make use of it. The worst thing the GOP has done in this regard, in my mind, is gerrymandering, and fortunately that does not affect the Presidential election (unless you end up with a crazy tie). You just have to make sure you’re registered to vote and know where your polling place is.

Time to go to the mattresses.

It means we’re going to war. When you “go to the matresses, you are at war with another Mafia family.

The term comes from when a family rents an apartment for about 10–20 guys while the Battle is going on. They get 15–20 mattresses and live in a small 10x15 apartment with 10–20 mattresses n the floor. They sleep in numbers as to protect themselves from a rival attack or git. They travel in numbers and are rarely seen alone.

This is also why you saw the scene where Clemenza was showing Mike how to make a spaghetti sauce for 20 men.

Mike never had to go to the mattresses though. He would just eliminate his enemies. However when Mike killed Sollozzo and Mckloskey, the Corleone’s had to “go to the mattresses” to ride out the storm. You saw the scenes with Clemenza sleeping on an old cot mattress and with Willie Cicci playing piano to pass the time.

That’s what life in the matresses is all about.

Blood feuds are part of my heritage, but not really a thing anymore now headhunting and cannibalism is frowned upon.

In terms of my post, blackballing GOP from social events and boycotting their businesses is far down the line from vendetta which still far from acts of disobedience that cause inconvenience and discomfort and still far from direct action against property and finances and a long, long way from violence.

I’m sure when they’re all sleeping together on mattresses, that’s the time to really reflect, to think incredibly hard, on all the mistakes they’ve made, and how they might approach the guys literally willing to kill them with kinder, more open and ultimately gentler hearts.

This government has been so openly corrupt I can’t see how they are going to allow a fair election. Do you think these people are going to give up near absolute power and wealth in November knowing they will be walking into investigations and trials due to the overwhelming evidence out there? Perhaps the excuse for imposing some kind of state of emergency will be rampant out of control coronavirus.
