Maybe Nestor came out of his ass a fully formed 12 year old and he was avoiding the uncomfortable questions from that.

Because that would make more sense than reality right now.

Edit:
WTF?!!?!?

Wow. It’s true. He almost says a word that starts with s.

I know Gaetz is an ass, but is there a reason why he wouldn’t want to acknowledge Nestor?

Nestor is rather… Cuban.
I assume Gaetz didn’t want to threaten his white nationalist base?
Literally the only thing I can think of that remotely makes any sense.

Nestor sure looks an awful lot like Gaetz?

I could not possibly have predicted that this is where Gaetz would have taken this.

Things get even more bizarre.

So he was dating Nestor’s sister, and then adopted nestor? And has since broken up with the sister?

This is insane. There’s zero chance any of this is true.

And the story gets weirder.

Actually, this kind of thing happens. I sort of accidentally did it once. When I was like 26 one of my buddies dragged along a 16 year old kid to our weekly Dungeons and Dragons game as a spare player. Which I went along with because we were short a player. He was a nice enough kid from a kind of bad family situation (single mother, largely absent father) and he seemed cool.

He and I hit it off and bonded a bit over common interests in video games and authors despite the age difference. Since he was young and kind of naive I also gave him some general mentor-ish advice on life and education and later on starting a career. At this point we’ve been friends almost two decades. Recently while we were splitting a bottle of whiskey he said that he considers me more of a father figure than his actual father. Which took me by surprise but was flattering in a way.

I can see that happening, but this just feels way weirder.

It’s his ex-gf’s brother? Which he adopted, but never called his son or even acknowledged the existence of?
For seven years?

I mean… what? My father adopted the daughter of his 2nd wife. He referred to her as his daughter from that moment on till the day he died (even after the divorce of her mother). It was a big deal for bth of them. He didn’t act like she was some random person in his life.

The adoption thing? Sure, whatever. Kind of strange, but hey life is strange sometimes.

Never acknowledging he exists? That’s super fucking weird. Waiting to acknowledge him to ā€œwinā€ a political tiff? Fucking insane.

Also, there’s the fact that this guy’s mother is apparently NOT DEAD. Like… gaetz isn’t actually his father.

To adopt the kid either the father would need to be dead or give up his rights, I believe, though IANAL.

It may be innocent. Maybe Gaetz saw the kid, bonded with him while dating the sister, and wanted to help him and by adopting him the kid gained rights he might not otherwise have had. Then Gaetz also realized as a political figure the whole thing was a bit weird so he kept it on the down low.

So he’s also 38 and unmarried? That’s a bit odd for a Republican. Yeah, it’s all weird.

He’s in FL in a Cuban heavy population. Gaetz panders. Wealthy Cubans skew heavily Republican. Adopting a kid in desperate need is always good.

This is weird. Makes me think he did not have actual approval for adoption from both parents, or something much, much worse.

Also, Gaetz voted against human trafficking bill.

The weird part is that this interpretation begins with attributing an act of genuine selflessness and/or human kindness to Matt Gaetz. It’s just not the most likely explanation for the subject (and doesn’t fit his subsequent behavior.)

It as if, I dunno, Donald Trump went out of his way to pet a dog. For 99% of the human race you’d simply say, ā€œAwwww, he just wanted to give the good boi a pat!ā€

But with Trump you’d be like, ā€œThat absolutely does not add up … I know! Maybe someone told him the dog’s mouth was full of diamonds and he went over to check? That fits better ā€¦ā€

I agree this is weird, but Gaetz is in Florida’s 1st congressional district which is up in the panhandle. I used to live in his district and there are very few Cubans in that area. The majority of Cubans tend to be in South Florida, and having a Cuban son would definitely play better down there than up in NW Florida. If he truly adopted this kid I doubt it would have been for political reasons - otherwise he would have been more public about it.

Pensacola is the largest city in his district, and their local newspaper shed a little more light on the subject but it’s still pretty confusing and conflicting:

He may have a streak of kindness and compassion. I know he’s all in with the Republican agenda, even while being dragged kicking and screaming to the scaffolds, but there may be a spark of humanity in the guy. He’s a lackey and lackies yell long and loud.

… Yeaaaaah you’ll need a bunch more evidence to convince me. Consider this video. It’s the one where he refers to Nestor as his ā€œhelper.ā€ But that’s not why I’m linking it. I’m linking it because it’s where Gaetz explains why he was the one, the only, the sole vote in Congress against an anti-human trafficking bill.

So let that sink in for a while. He voted against a human trafficking bill that everyone else voted for. Everyone. Dana Rohrabacher voted for it. Devin Nunes voted for it. Tom Cotton voted for it. Louis Gohmert voted for it. Steve King voted for it. But not Matt Gaetz. (Oh, and he defended Acosta when he was under fire for throwing the Epstein prosecution. What a shocker. And of course, avid defender of Jim Jordan.)

Gaetz listed his dog on his biography but not his son. And there are reports Nestor’s Mom is not dead Iike Gaetz’s sister claimed. Not sure what to believe. But one scummy thing is he has totally derailed the conversation and awful people are screaming that Cedric Richmond has to resign. By that metric there wouldn’t be a single republican left in Congress except maybe Mitt Romney.

All I know is that they’re definitely fucking.
