Georgia Democrats choose Nikema Williams to replace the late John Lewis on the November ballot
What’s that doing in this thread? Well, read down to paragraph 5:
The Democrat will face Republican Angela Stanton-King, an author and television personality. In February, President Trump pardoned Stanton-King for her role in a stolen vehicle ring in 2007, for which she served six months in home confinement.
The best people.
Yeah, Cruz shitting the bed on twitter again, as usual. I thought Parler was his thing? Of course Cruz has no work to do instead of this nonsense. His state is doing just swell.

Pretty much.
I’m not a Cuban fan, but seeing him shit on Trump and his supporters is a Cuban I can get behind.
Also:
He’s a legit billionaire, anyway, unlike DJT. He could buy DJT several times over. Maybe a dozen times over.

Never been a huge Cuban fan, because I don’t need to venerate wealth, but I love that. More of that please.
“I don’t get involved in the domestic policies of any foreign country” is not an ideal response to what may amount to genocide and at a minimum amounts to a horrific campaign of religious oppression and persecution.

Huge bribery scandal brewing in the Ohio state house.

It is when it is a response to a bullshit deflection game of whack-a-mole used by tendentious trolls to try and shift the goal posts away from horrific actions in our own country.
I.e. if it were at a league meeting about expanding their Chinese market, your critique would be fair. In response to Rafael Cruz trying to shift blame to deny the validity of BLM protests, it is the correct response
Geee how did I know a corruption or bribery scandal had to involve a Republican? It’s the party of criminals.
The Hill article linked is interesting because it goes on at great length about AOC … but contains literally zero info about Yoho other than his name, party, and state. And this when Yoho is the one who initiated the incident.
On the one hand, that’s an example of a double-standard: AOC gets the microscope treatment, while the guy shooting off his mouth skates. On the other, it’s an example of why attempts to take down AOC have failed - by making her the story, they make her more famous (and it certainly helps that there doesn’t seem to anything to find with the microscope other than an earnest and hard-working freshman Rep.)
Unemployment does lead to poverty and poverty is a known contributor to crime. What is there to even argue about? I guess in Yoho’s world all the crime is BLM protests and antifa?
In that particular example the right (specifically Fox News, but we all know how most of the GOP gets their talking points the same way the Donald does) was selectively editing AOC’s comments on the increase in crime across the board in NYC and other major metropolitan areas since COVID-19 began.
What AOC was speaking to was the increase in general crime, tying the increases in part to increasingly desperate circumstances of the marginalized poor in those same cities due to job loss and/or disruption of benefits and services due to COVID-19. This was as a counterpoint to GOP reps trying to pin the increase in crime rates on BLM, protestors and antifa activity (aka the boogeymen trinity). Fox and friends then selectively edited her comments and ran with the faulty argument that she was blaming increased violent crime rates on hungry poor people (aka “the mob is coming for you”).
Then along comes Rep. Yoho who figures he can score easy constituent points by verbally attacking her on the steps of the Capital. The very fact that idiots like Yoho are so triggered by AOC, and that Fox and other right wing media devote so much time and effort to trying to make her look scary to their viewers, tells me that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is doing exactly what she was elected to do, and doing a hell of a job of it. She represents the people of her district far better than any GOP rep currently in office. I honestly hope we can elect a dozen more just like her in November.
At least in this case the amount of the total bribery was millions. I’m always amazed at how low some of these bribery cases are. Like, risk jail for a few hundred dollars? Whut?
