I don’t know, that’s what I thought after watching the fiasco of the George W. Bush administration — surely after seeing how badly George W. did, America would not elect a Republican for at least a generation. And yet here we are.
America does not seem to be very good at learning some very obvious lessons.
Was listening to Dan Carlin interview a retired four-star Air Force general with all the bona fides you could possibly ask for in that arena, and unprompted this old dude who spent his entire adult life in the military went on a whole tangent about how America has completely failed to learn any political/social lessons from Vietnam on.
