American conservatism really has gone places. Truly, only the best and brightest.

Thank you for this. I got a giggle out of it, which I needed this morning.

And I’ll be honest, I sort of sympathize with Marcus, having also said stupid things on the internet. But it is hilarious watching him dig in.

That’s the part that got me. Yes, his initial reading was dumb, but we all do dumb things. So just delete the tweet or write an “oops, my mistake” followup. But no, he just kept digging in because some people really have a hard time admitting they were wrong or mistaken.

Can’t wait to read this one

I’m cool with the GOP dying.

Thiessen has been a tool for decades. IDK why they keep giving him a platform.

They just can’t quit the Clintons.

Not often Beau gets loud enough to peak his setup, but today is that day.

Also when you rile up old man Greenfield… you’ve probable fucked up.

Speaking of stupid fucks:

Walsh still hasn’t figured out the pattern.
He’s come a long ways, but he’s still Joe Walsh at the end of the day.

Spoiler:

Despite my cheap-pop headline, I think the answer is definitively no.

However,

But he might be the most despicable man to ever serve in the United States Senate.

I mean, yes, that’s a tough list to crack, too. I’m aware.

Conservatives really don’t have an ounce of self-awareness, do they?

There’s this thing called “hypocrisy” you might want to look into.

I like how they’re all saying this sort of shit like it isn’t the dumbest angle of attack ever.

  1. there are currently 5 Catholics on the supreme court
  2. Robert Jeffress, who Trump has had give prayers at the Whitehouse, literally tells people that Catholicism was created by Satan.

If any party is anti-Catholic it’s the GOP and has been since… forever.
Because Evangelicals fucking hate Catholics.

Also Biden is a fucking Catholic. Which makes it the dumbest attack ever.

If you mean that the Democratic argument Hawley is describing is a dumb angle of attack, then in fairness we have to note that it’s exactly the angle of attack used by Diane Feinstein in Barrett’s last hearing. I think you’re a lot less likely to hear it this time (which is why the GOP are mendaciously repeating it like it’s being said by liberals everywhere since this evening’s press conference), but it has been used and you’ll certainly see it on Twitter, etc.

Do you think there aren’t people who perceive Biden’s brand of Catholicism as critically different from Barrett’s? The phrase from Hawley wasn’t “can’t be trusted because they’re Catholic,” it was “can’t be trusted because they’re TOO Catholic.”

Again… Her Catholicism is, clearly, not something that any Democrat would consider something that precludes her from serving on the SCOTUS.

Sotomayor is a Catholic… along with 4 other current justices.

The complaints about Barrett is that she seems willing to put her religion above the Constitution, and inject it into her rulings. Also, the fact that they are rushing to appoint her, while people are literally already voting, because they know that they are about to lose power, and thus they are trying desparately to impose their minority views on the majority while they can.

Really though, all this is moot.

The GOP is going to do this, and no one can stop it. And then they shall reap what they’ve sown.

Sometimes it’s like I’m not even here…

This is it. All the hand-wringing over her hearings is bullshit political theater. The Senate GOP will confirm her.
