Now where is that like button. Trump desperately needs to wind up in the pokey, since his obesity, age and shitty diet somehow have not yet caught up with him.

The only healthy lifestyle decisions he has made are not smoking and drinking. It’s a wonder he is still alive after a diet consisting of mostly fast food, if rumors are correct.
The fast food has made him fat, but that may be the only negative affect. There are a lot of people who have terrible diets but don’t seem to have artery and coronary problems. It’s probably just the luck of the genes you’re born with.
I also think Trump may be somewhat immune to stress. He’s not normal. He continually contructs a fantasy world around himself.

That’s a really good point. I’ve never considered the fringe benefits of mental illness before, but I have to imagine some forms can negate day to day to stress.

Yeah, I’d think not having a conscience would be liberating from a stress perspective.

I’m pretty sure he telepathically beams his own stress to other people. Me mainly.

Climate change and Covid in Florida can and probably will change that by '24.

A platform of arresting rapists is a bold move for a GOP presidential aspirant. It would seem more prudent to leave the shift to center for the general and stay focused on the base until the primary.

“We’re gonna go after rapists so hard, dude, you don’t even know!”*
*“But victims are still gonna be forced to have their babies and we’re not gonna do jack for her or the kid after it’s born.”
Eliminating rape is easy: simply legally recognize involuntary intercourse as creating a state-recognized marriage (and any instant divorces as needed), and of course use the standard that a husband cannot be guilty of raping his partner. qed
Consent and self-determination are such outdated ideas…

My first thought when Abbott said this was, “Looks like he’ll be arresting an awful lot of Republicans in his own party”.

I get the sentiment, but I’m not sure how many times it has to be said for it to really sink in: rape is not about sex. It’s not about a man being rejected. It’s about violence and control.
We should stop perpetuating dangerous myths.

That’s not true. Plenty of date rapes are primarily about sex (drunk girl who’s passed out). Then the guy acts all stunned when he’s accused of rape, “But she wanted to have sex before she was unconscious!”

Hm, looks like my thinking may be outdated, if not plain wrong. Psychology Today suggests it’s not an either/or:
Date rape is a sexual crime but it is also about who controls the interaction, an issue of great concern for feminists, and for women in general. In other words, date rape mixes up the feminist perspective on rape with the evolutionary one.
You guys are giving Abbott way too much credit. He (and those Conservatives like him) are nowhere near nuanced enough in their thinking to be considering all of the legal, legislative and psychological factors and impact of redefining rape in the legal system. Abbott’s most likely “solution” will be to pass a law that forbids women from leaving the house unless fully covered from head to toe, because to these assholes the victim is always somehow complicit in the crime.
As much as these dillrods howl about “Sharia Law” in 'Murica, it’s essentially exactly what they lust after only replacing Allah and the Quran with Jesus and the Bible.
