Well, it’s got a similar premise, sure, but in this case it’s a US-let multinational force with a bunch of ships, some of which are destroyed by the quantum event and the ensuing confusion+battle (some of the ships end up in the middle of a US Navy force, others elsewhere and captured by the Axis), and they’re from 2021 (alas, not from one where Trump became President-- one of the ships is the USS Hillary Clinton), and they arrive right before the Battle of Midway. It’s a pretty decent yarn, although it’s got a whole mess of characters to try to keep track of. It’s a series of novels, somewhat like the Worldwar series by Harry Turtledove.
That would be a fast shipbuilding turnaround! Science fiction lol.
Heh, well, the first book in the series came out in 2004.
So are we in CIvil WOAR fanfic territory now? Just checking.
Josh Hawley, Senator Hee Haw from Missouri, continues to reach for greatness as he laments the decline of males and blames it on liberals.
“Can we be surprised that after years of being told that they are the problem, that their manhood is the problem, more and more men are withdrawing into the enclave of idleness and pornography and video games?” Hawley said.
“While the left may celebrate this decline of men, I for one cannot join them. No one should.”

Yes, let’s all reminisce about the glory days of the 80s when men were men.

Glad to see that whipping boy’s still there for some whippin’.

At least they’ve moved on from blaming Dungeons & Dragons.

I believe they want life “like the old days”. Frankly, the GOP is currently losing the war for control of the masses of this country: as the USA gets browner, the lily white Republican party becomes more of a minority. They’re getting backed into a corner, and like a corner rat - they’re going to fight and fight dirty.

Yeah I think this is accurate. The sad reality is that about 30% of the country would probably prefer apartheid South Africa as the model for how to run the US, and they’re just as scared as SA’s white ruling class was when apartheid started falling apart.
I’ve always wanted to be part of an enclave

No before that!
Wait, not that, before that!
FUCK
Romans were real men. Just look at that neckbeard!

Yes, the Romans!
Nothing says manly like wearing skirts and having sex with other men!

I guess lying to the judge is the preferable strategy.

“These men have principles and it’s disgusting,” is honestly the most GOP thing ever.

Also if they literally tossed them into the hands of BLM jurists that might actually lead to actual justice.

And those principles are gun rights! These are people who apparently told the judge that they couldn’t be impartial because they believe in the 2nd Amendment. Apparently that’s not cool when you’re trying to stack a jury.

I’m having trouble wrapping my head around this one. She’s concerned that people in the jury pool are saying to the court, “You know, I just feel that straight-up walking into the street with a firearm and murdering random strangers who pose no threat to me is a good thing to do, so I wouldn’t be able to vote to convict this guy no matter what the facts or evidence says, so I’m going to drop out of the jury pool”?
Also, WTF does “back the blue” have to do with it? Rittenhouse isn’t a cop. Is the assumption that cops want people to just murder people in the street? Doesn’t that give them a lot of paperwork to do? Seems like they’d be against it, but what do I know.
